Olympus ME-15 Tie Clip Microphone

I've had to return this item because it only works in sockets that provide power to the microphone (my laptop doesn't). Although this was clear from the documentation that arrived with the mic, it wasn't stated in the online product/technical info.

Therefore, purchase this item only if you are intending to use it in a powered microphone socket.

On occasions when I require audio recording from a telephone, this device has proved both reliable and affordable.

Settings advice

In my case, when using a 'Olympus' digital recorder, the microphone does take some power from the device. However, the microphone settings on the device work (i.m.h.o) best by selecting 'non-stereo' / 'low' microphone sensitivity and to record at least 'SP' recording quality.

This optimises the incoming and outgoing voice levels and gives better quality recordings. The resulting recordings prove clear but clearly limited by the telephone medium.

So in themselves the microphone is fine, but you may find confusion if you need to record both telephone and normal ... Read More:

Appears fine at first, but the controls have a very annoying fault - fast forwarding or rewinding is done with the same buttons that jump to another file either forward or backward, and it's very easy to accidentally jump to the end of a recording - very irritating when you're 20 minutes in to a 90 minute interview. I agree with the other comments re: Digital Wave Player - it's a pain, and life would be far simpler if the recorder could be plugged into any PC and seen as an external hard drive from which to drag and drop audio files.
Worse still, my VN-2100PC has now packed up altogether. It won't transfer files via DWP without an error message popping up halfway through the process, and it dies without warning even on fresh batteries. ... Read More:

Olympus - VN-4100PC Digital Voice Recorder

Love this product! Delivery was very prompt. Received within a couple of days of ordering. Compact design without too many complicated buttons to play with. Very easy to set up and use. Got mine done in less than five minutes! Not bad for a middle aged guy! Instructions were very easy to follow. Once I'd put my glasses on! The range of the internal mic is suprisingly good. I could pick up people talking normally from 5 or 6 metres away! All that you would want from this kind of product and at a very reasonable price. I'd recommend this item to anyone looking for simplicity and value for money.

I bought this as a study help - I'm doing a Medical Administration course and use the VN2100 for medical terminology.

Its handy size, clear and easy to use, storage space, 5 folder divisions, add-on mic.

Great price too.

Perfect for my needs, couldn't ask for more!

McNae's Essential Law for Journalists

As a working journalist, this is the only book I (and every colleague I've ever worked with on any newsdesk) reach for time and time again. Not only is it bang up to date, it explains all aspects of reporting law clearly and succinctly.
Unsure of what libel is? How to defend against it? Are you in contempt of court? Breaching the Official Secrets Act? Taking photographs of children? Invading somebody's privacy? McNae's knows. And it's written in a way to tell you quickly.
It's known as The Bible in the regional newsrooms I've worked in all my life - and it's easy to see why when you read it. I can't recommend this highly enough: EVERY reporter should have their own copy.

Encyclopaedia Britannica 2008 Ultimate Edition (PC DVD ROM)

I bought this based on having had the print version as a child and the advertising saying that contained everything that is in the print version. If it is I cannot find it. Anything I have looked up has no more than a few paragraphs of information. Disappointed and would not bother with it much now as the few times I have referred to it, it has given little information and not the information I sought

Uniross AA/AAA USB Charger + 4 AAA 1000Mah Batteries

Have now had this approx 2 weeks and so far so good. I had previously bought the "Uniross Charger Xpress 300", which worked for a grand total of 5 minutes, and never again after!! So I was dissappointed and hesitant about buying a recharger and had more or less resigned myself to a life of the eco-unfriendly but nevertheless ubiquitous disposables. But I saw this, read the overall favourable reviews, and thought that I'd gamble a fiver! And so far I am impressed! Though early days, it has already outlived my Uniross Charger Xpress 300 by a thousand miles!!! Once bitten twice shy!
I would recommend getting a USB extension cable, as depending on the model of the computer and where/how the USB slots are located, this recharger won't fit into the slot, as ... Read More:

Everyday I spend countless hours on the computer, typing. This product has changed that. I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone that really wants something like this. You need to put in a little bit of time to figure out how it works, but it's worth it. Details below.

On system requirements:
On my computer, the program runs smoothly (Windows xp, with 1 giga of RAM, 2.4 GHz dual processor). The box says that with 512 MB RAM and 1 GHz processor it would work ( I'd go a little higher on that). On their website they have a list of microphones that will work but they don't have a list of sound cards, rather they say you need a Sound Blaster 16 (which I couldn't find anywhere).
