Product Description: It only looks serious. The Z1012 is pure fun to use. Though it appears like an SLR camera, the Kodak Easyshare 1012IS sports a long 12x optical zoom with its 33-396 mm (35 mm equiv.) f/2.8-4.8 SCHNEIDER-KREUZNACH VARIOGON Lens. So even though you can't change lenses, the focal length means you don't have to. 10.1-megapixel resolution captures still images at up to 3672?2748 for exquisite detail. Want to take movies? Kodak's Easyshare 1012IS does that too (even in high-definition) at resolutions of HD (1280 ? 720) at 30 fps; VGA (640 ? 480) at 30 fps; QVGA (320 ? 240) at 30 fps - with Quicktime and MP4 compression for stereo sound in HD mode. It's simple to use with lots of automatic settings. Want to be creative? There are manual and semi-automatic modes too. Optical image stabilization helps keep images blur free. I had an old Kodak 4530 (which I dropped into Lake Michigan)...ooopps! It was still working but was a slow camera. I love the almost instant ready feature on the Z1012. Turn it on and it's ready to go! Also the 3 picture right-after-another feature is great for action shots, (like the dogs running in the surf of Lake Michigan!) (I won't drop this one). The zoom on it is also great. Having used a kodak before, the buttons and menu's are similar, so it was easy enough to adjust. But, I still haven't even begun to use all the features on this camera.

I just bought this camera at WalMart. I wanted the 12x optical zoom, ease of the camera and to maybe later do videos. The instruction booklet is far too big because it comes in many languages, but for my use what instructions I need is there and simple. So, only 25 pages are useful. I am unhappy at this time with the Kodak lithium CRV3 non - rechargeable battery that came with the camera. The camera died after about 200 shots (not including some deleted ones) and I zoomed in to crop several pictures. I also played and tested as many of the features as I could or want to. The zoomed in picture quality was very grainy and so the pictures became garbage - useless. Quite a few pictures taken outside on a clear day came out really bleached out ... Read More:

Picture quality is very good. Auto focus does great on still objects, but is a little slow on randomly moving objects.
Video feature is top notch
Batteries have not lasted long at all. I have ordered the Kodak rechargable battery suggested.

I have been using this camera for over a year. It's great to capture action during sporting events, even soccer from the sidelines across a big field. The strong optical zoom is great. The pictures it takes are crystal clear, sharp, and have true colors. The panorama option is incredible. It stitches three photos together seamlessly. Con's: The on/off slider switch is poorly designed. The battery does not recharge in the camera.

I bought the Kodak Z1012 to replace a 8mp Kodak Easyshare P880 (a great camera by the way)
and I must say I was highly dissapointed.
The photos were grainy and the zoom made the problem worse.
10.1mp???? I don't see it!
The On/Off switch is very awkward and if you don't remove the
lense cap before you turn the camrea on, the cap pops off...
..puff...Ta Da...LOST CAP...!!
I sent the camera back, got a refund and bought a Panasonic Lumix
DCM--FZ28.
