 Rating:  - THE BEST !!!My granddaughter, Elizabeth, is a thirteen year old student of the cello. She just loves Mr. Ma. This is a Christmas gift for her; so I have not even listened; however, we have attended his performances. Please continue to provide such wonderful selections to your subscribers. Rating: - Harmony, Peace, Joy, Serenity---Yo-Yo Ma's Perfect Christmas CDYo-Yo Ma has brought together some of the most magnificent musicians throughout the world and created a perfect seasonal CD. Each song, as one would expect from Yo-Yo Ma, is rendered so sweet and smoothly. Music is mostly on for background for me but this CD caused me to stop in my tracks. I sat in the waning California sunlight and took in these gorgeous renditions of these classic songs. Bravo and brava to Yo-Yo Ma and all musicians involved. Perfection. Humble and grateful thanks from California, which is currently on fire. Rating:  - A real odd and eclectic collectionI am not familiar with all the musicians and singers Yo Yo Ma partnered with on this CD, but several such as Chris Botti, Dave Brubeck, Joshua Redman and Diana Krall are among my favorites. Frankly, I must say that they are not at their best by any means, probably because of the material and the arrangements. This is a real odd and eclectic collection. Frankly, not worth the money. Buy it used if you must. Rating: - YoYo MaMy husband is a cellist and we recently attended a live YoYo Ma concert in Chicago. Of course live is better but this is not bad, the addition of "friends" to this holiday CD is interesting and pleasant to listen to. We both enjoyed listening to it and it was before the holiday season. Enjoy. Rating: - A WINTERY WONDERLAND OF MUSIC AND MEDITATIONIt's beginning to feel a lot like . . . well, you get the idea. It's a bit too early for us to take a peek into Santa's gift bag, but we couldn't resist one early glimpse. Though the tracks reek of seasonal spirit, this is more a wintery musical mediation, with lots of Big Name guest stars (James Taylor, Dave Brubeck, Diana Krall, Chris Botti) spreading cheer and well, peace and joy, whether you celebrate Christmas, Chanukah, Eid al-Adha or Kwanzaa---or jazz, pop, classical, Celtic, rock or Latin. |
