This told me that even when it is "off" it uses 20watts. A power strip solves the problem, but unit allowed me to conduct an inventory of my house looking to deploy these. Use it with a three/two prong adaptor and a short extension cord, so you can test hard to see plugs and insert it in two prong extension cords. Unlike the ammeter which clamps around a cord, you have to turn things off and unplug things to test them. Also this does not measure smaller than 1 watt, so you wont get much results trying to test those power bricks when the are not doing anything, but you can verify that there are not surprises. |
