When I first unwrapped the package to open this book, I was eager to get to know what Prince's life is like. Once I started flipping thru the pages, I could not stop. In the past, I thought Prince was weird but now I see that he's just mysteriously creative. He is an artist, an artist so unique that we cannot understand. It is not beyond us,but rather hard to imagine. Prince continues to captivate our attention and after reading this book, I can see why!!!! I LOVE Prince!!!

After reading several reviews and checking the book out at a local store I purchased it on the spot. I'm also ok with Scott's humor and I think it kept the book light hearted enough. I really like the point of view and how he just explains things as if you were just chatting with him (As he meant this book to be and says so in the beginning). It's a very easy read and quick reference.

At first glance I was disappointed with this book because I opened it up and saw a bunch of pretty photos. I thought I had bought a picture book with no real value of teaching me how to take great photographs.

Since I had it I decided to read it. I have learned so much! If you read the text and then read the description in the photos you can learn so much on fine tuning your photography.

I consider myself a novice photographer who, admittedly, takes more photos of the family than anything else. Nonetheless, my pictures have improved immensely under the suggestions of Bryan Peterson. I've even gotten creative and tried nature shots.

I bought this book because I considered it as a very informative and well explained book on the digital photography and I expected some explanations about the digital editing as well, but when I start reading the book, it disappointed me so much.
The book is extremely for beginners and has very short contents (without any details), the 60% of the book is filled with photos, and the content is not enough for a person who has already an average knowledge about his own point-and-shoot camera, So I don't recommend it to all of you guys who already know a little about the digital camera functions like, aperture, shutter speed, focal length and flash etc,, believe me this book is not more than just telling u press this button and release that button.. ... This book covers the basics of what you need and why, but doesn't completely cover the topics. Although a fairly okay read, Nina Garcia's previous book, The Little Black Book of Style, is more helpful.

However, my opinion may be biased as I am extremely into fashion and style, so I have high standards for these kinds of things. It should be mroe helpful for those that aren't as style-conscious, because people like me already have everything there plus other things that are more handy and look better on certain body types.

Domino Magazine came on the scene in 2005 just three short years ago. It melded fashion and decor and immediately energized the shelter magazine market, appealing to 20 to 40 year olds, and finding an even wider Baby Boom audience. Its hip and refreshing "how to" attitude to creating your own pretty decor soundly resonated.
Even the professional designers presented had a homey approach using revamped flea market finds, big box store items, and their own personal products.
It provided a "power to the people" approach. Everyone can shop at a flea market, Target, CB2, or eBay, etc. The message is: Everyone has access to a happy looking and pretty home.

It is amazing that in 1984 all of the residents (except 6) of this small town were photographed and that now they have been re-photographed in the same spot PLUS have been interviewed with an inviting, open-ended, "Tell me about your life ..."

The history. The changes. The love. The loss. The realism. The dreams. The regrets. The celebrations. Wow.

In our culture, we tend to live too much for today and this book is a subtle way to contemplate our own lives from a bigger-picture perspective, with a much broader and more meaningful stroke than the immediate.

I can't say that I like Zoe's personal style, but this book does have some good bits. It made me want to try a little harder than I was, and I feel better for it. She gives some good advice and it's not at all size or budget specific.
The pictures are indeed a self congratulatory "look at all my famous friends", as is the constant name dropping. The illustrations are so hilarious, like the drawings a middle school girl doodles in her notebook. It lost my interest in some parts and kind of dies out toward the end, but all in all I can say that I enjoyed it.

I don't usually read style-guides but this book is so good. It is clear, visually and textually and I actually stayed up last night thinking about what I already own that I can put together in new ways. It's a really nice, encouraging book that has the same supportive tone of the magazine and the same wealth of ideas. I love this book and am definitely giving it as gifts this X-mas.
