Vicki Myron's memoir of her life with Dewey is a nice blend of sentiment, honesty, and belief in how the littlest of things can have a major impact upon the lives of people. At first I thought I was simply going to read a book about a cat, after seeing a CBS Sunday News Morning special. It seemed like the type of fluffy read that I would be interested in, especially since I was able to acquire it that day.
However, Myron was able to mingle in her personal familial tragedies, the history of Spencer, along with Dewey's significance to her and the rest of Spencer. The beginning is a bit shaky and the shifts from Dewey anecdotes to the specific historical landmarks in Spencer is a bit jarring. It felt as if there was a struggle for ... Read More:

It may be one out of a hundred of these things that make me laugh, so unless I am editing this book (and I didn't), I cannot imagine that this would be worth buying. Per a previous review, this seems to be full of the ones that make your stomach turn in disgust and shame for having looked at a LOLCat to begin with.
I will continue to frequent the web site and will leave my money in my wallet where it belongs. Yeah, not even a gag-gift would warrant purchasing this.

Barbara Kingsolver uses her very readable style to encourage us all on a journey to understand the effects of the standard American diet on our own health as well as the health of the earth. This book is a fun and heart-touching read that also contains great recipes and short insightful inserts regarding the negative impacts of the US agricultural and food production system. The authors provide hope that personal choice in selecting locally grown and natural whole foods can positively impact our future. It helped me make the move to a more healthy lifestyle. This book will also make a great gift for family and friends.

"Most Americans, but especially children, have dozens of pesticides and other toxic compounds in their bodies, many of them linked to health threads. A source of many of these toxins? Common, everyday, run of the mill household consumer products. There's no polite way of saying this: your body is a landfill, a dumping ground for a mind-boggling array of toxic chemicals. So is mine. So is your child's..." Sloan Barnett writes. She continues to discuss other potential household toxins and simple steps that everyone can take to a healthier life and a cleaner planet.
"Green Goes with Everything" is divided into ten chapters, including: The Real Dirt on Clean, Scary Clean, Safe Clean, Clean Body, Clean Baby, Clean Food, Clean Water, Clean Water, ... Read More:

I was hopeful that this approach was going to work for our little one. She had colic for the first 3.5 months and cried a lot. Therefore i was looking for a sleep approach that didn't require additional crying. We didn't start any real sleep "training" until 4 months. And bottomline... we have come to the conclusion, some crying must occur. I know that ALL babies are different, but this approach was not the one for us.

Domino Magazine came on the scene in 2005 just three short years ago. It melded fashion and decor and immediately energized the shelter magazine market, appealing to 20 to 40 year olds, and finding an even wider Baby Boom audience. Its hip and refreshing "how to" attitude to creating your own pretty decor soundly resonated.
Even the professional designers presented had a homey approach using revamped flea market finds, big box store items, and their own personal products.
It provided a "power to the people" approach. Everyone can shop at a flea market, Target, CB2, or eBay, etc. The message is: Everyone has access to a happy looking and pretty home.
Domino The Book Of Decorating is written by the magazine's editors, and it continues the grass roots philosophy ... Read More:

This book offers comprehensive information about babies and toddlers. A big help to the new mom. And it is written in an easy to read style. I felt well-prepared for starting my journey into motherhood.

I am a gardener and I read books and magazines in addition to my hands on efforts. This book has made me think about the way I have been gardening and the complications that I have put on my efforts. This is a much more simple way to do things and I have learned so much about larger spaces, the effort levels of fruits and vegetables, simple tool use and care and water resources.
Excellent book. Although I bought it for myself, I had to get it away from my husband.

I don't even knit but I read this book cover to cover! It is cleverly written and beautifully photographed. I intend on giving it as Christmas gifts to the knitters in my life.
