Perhaps appropriate for discussion with an older child, but written and drawn for younger ones. Brings to mind cartoon Camel cigarette art drawn to appeal to adolescents. As a parable this story has power and merit along the lines of the song "Cat's In The Cradle" by Harry Chapin, but its presentation in a format for young children is totally inappropriate. This is a horrible, disturbing book.

With every Harry Potter installment, I find myself saying the new installment is my favorite of the series so far. Book 6 is no exception, and I think it is a credit to the author. The hopelessness and despair have increased in order for the readers to feel the plight of the characters. Starting with this book and continuing into the next, the reader feels the despair that afflicts the good wizard community. It has some similarities to World War II Germany. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, even if it was a bit gloomy.

I finally brought myself to finish reading all the short stories in this last night. OMG! I loved J.D. Robb's novella, but then I love those characters and it isn't hard to please me ... just give me a new story.
Basically, we get our favorite characters back again for another mystery. Eve is sooo thrilled to be at a party of a friend of Roarke. She finally sees the light when her hubby says they can go home shortly. (Her feet are killing her and we all know how much she loves these shindigs.) Then low and beyond screaming breaks out and some guy, covered in blood, holding a knife breaks into the party and promptly almost passes out. Eve quickly assesses the situation and finds the murder scene. Looks like a satanic ritual took place, in ... Read More:

This set includes the first three books of a 5 part series. My 12 year old son read and loved the Lightning Thief #1. My 10 year old son now has his eye on the LT because one of his friends at school was talking about it. Both boys are talking about Greek mythology to eachother and a teacher has started reading Greek myths aloud in the classroom because of the sudden interest.

The first three books in The House of Night series were good but not great. "Untamed" changes all of that. In one book, this series has gone from okay to awesome. I read "Untamed" in two days because I couldn't bare to put it down. Everything changes.
***SPOLIERS***
The entire book moves towards a series changing climax in the last several chapters. Throughout "Untamed," you know something major is going to happen. The characters know something major is going to happen, & you can feel the buildup with each chapter. Then, everything explodes. Neferet is exposed, & she takes over The House of Night with her evil minions, Raven Mockers & the demon Kalona from Cherokee legend. I don't want to ruin too much of the book, ... Read More:

This book was highly recommended to us when I was pregnant with my first baby last year. The first day, we brought our precious newborn home and she wouldn't stop screaming we immediately turned to the book for answers. We desperately read the entire thing and tried all of the suggestions, but nothing made a difference; she still screamed unconsolably. It left us feeling even more helpless and frustrated. She was eventually diagnosed with reflux, but even after we got her on Prevacid she was a fussy, screaming baby.
There were a few things in the book that gave us hope that our baby wouldn't be this way forever, but that didn't make up for the fact that there was nothing we could do in the meantime to make the nightmare end. She finally started ... Read More:

The Bodies Left Behind is the new stand alone thriller by Jeffrey Deaver. The plot is simple. Off duty deputy Brynn McKenzie gets a 911 call to a Wisconsin vacation home. The caller hung up without reporting an emergency, so Brynn goes just to check it out. Little does she know, two killers named Hart and Lewis are at the house and have assinated its owners. The killers would have gotten away with it if it hadn't been for the house guest they'd brought along with them. The house guest, a spoiled wanna be actress named Michelle, wounds one of the killers before escaping into the woods. Brynn shows up and is almost killed before also escaping. She encounters Michelle, and together they must try and figure out how to evade the killers and signal for help.

This is a great book. Covers how to put together a perfect exposure very well. Are you tired of always struggling becuase there just wasn't enough light in that shot? You just had a bit too much blur then you wanted? You just don't understand how shutter speed, film speed and aperature work together and which one should be modified for this particular shot? Then read this book and have fun shooting in manual mode from now on and stop hoping that auto mode will get the picture right. :)
