Beginning iPhone Development: Exploring the iPhone SDK

I have The iPhone Developer's Cookbook: Building Applications with the iPhone SDK (Developer's Library), the yet-to-be-released beta PDF of iPhone SDK Development, and this book on my desk. While the iPhone SDK Development book is as yet unreleased, I won't formally issue any opinions on that book (and this is the wrong place to do that, anyways). Thus far, I believe Dave and Jeff's work on "Beginning iPhone Development" is hands-down THE book to use if you want to learn iPhone development, and they've set the bar pretty darn high for future books presently being authored.

Dave and Jeff do an incredible job in the first 52 pages of the book explaining the nuances and idiosyncrasies of the XCode and Interface Builder development ... Read More:

I read this book as an assignment for a communication class. I thoroughly enjoyed this book as it was not only easy to read but, it provided valuable insight to what goes wrong during the communication process and how one can begin to steer the process back in a productive direction. After reading this book, I was able to use the practical applications to many different conversations i.e. personal and professional relationships. It is a truly valuable tool if you have ever left a conversation feeling that you could have done more. I will be purchasing the authors' other books.

Well written, great diagrams, leaves nothing out, however, I wish this guide had an index. Other than having to thumb through 500+ pages to find the help you are looking for, this guide is MANDATORY if you play Fallout 3.

I very much enjoy looking through this book and in a few years may understand more of it's contents. There are many terms I have not yet experienced, although I've been a camera buff for around a decade. It appears to be very informative and I look forward to future use.

Composition. In the eye of the beholder or the artist, or quick rules like thirds or golden mean... Unteachable, you either have it or you don't.

Nope, the author shows it to be more than just that eye of self-expression. The principals can be learned, reinforced, and communicated. Who said, "Once you know the rules, you can break them?" I don't know, but I do know that this book helped me be a better photographer.

Excellent book with many sample code. I hope the author prepares a newer edition with more recipes.
