I loved this book! Its very rare you find a book that makes you laugh outloud. It makes you think but does it in a way that makes you read it over and over. Ive bought 3 more copies as christmas gifts, its a must read for everyone!!

I just finished Sarah Vowell's Assasination Vacation and found it to be more interesting and cohesive than Partly Cloudy Patriot. Vowell wit and inquisitiveness are endearing and the book is a page turner more to find out her next reaction to something rather than to find out what she is actually doing.
That said, her leftist, wackily liberal politics get in the way EVERY time she inserts them. And also, despite standing up and shouting her atheism, I don't buy it. I see some inner conflict being worked out on the written page, especially the last chapter.
Those criticisms aside, I think it would be fun to take a trip with Vowell, staring at unread plaques or looking at a statue and being the only person within a mile in any direction who knew ... Read More:

The Uncle John Bathroom books are a great series of endless trivia. If you are a trivia nut like my husband and I, you'll thoroughly enjoy this book as well as ALL of the others. Good luck finding them all however, some are more difficult to find but each book has new trivia and unbelievable, with the number of books this group as published...they NEVER repeat facts. Amazing. Also, just as the title indicates, if your guy (or you) are like my husband and spend plenty of time in the bathroom throughout the day - this book makes a fantastic read while sitting on the pot. These books are also great to place in the bathroom for company to enjoy while doing their "business".

Only knowing what little they teach you in grade school about this man, i bought this book to learn a little more. This is a good book to do this. I found after reading this that i really like this great man. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to get a quick glimpse of Mr. Lincoln.
I hope this review is helpful to some.

Roger Moore has produced a charming memoir of his life and experiences in film, devoting long sections to stories taken from his time on "The Saint" and "Maverick" and, of course, playing his most notable role, James Bond. Moore has an easy way with a story, filling the pages with his light sense of humor and charisma. He doesn't go into a lot of depth in any area, which makes for a fast and breezy read.
Moore doesn't indulge in the type of axe-grinding or salacious gossip that fills so many Hollywood memoirs. So if you're looking for those kinds of stories, you're going to be disappointed. But if you're interested in learning more about this man's life and the wonderful projects he was involved with, "My Word Is My Bond" is well worth reading.

For those new to DFW, perhaps aware of him due to the tragic news of his recent death, this is a great place to start. This book collects essays he wrote for Harper's, Premier Magazine, and others. After DFW made his fiction bones, some genius editor (Lewis Lapham maybe?) guessed that he would make a very interesting journalist, which was an inspired call. The first, best known, reporting effort by Mr. Wallace is also the title essay, "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again" which recounts his experience and observations during a week spent on a cruise.
Not to be missed though, is the article DFW wrote on assignment for Premier magazine involving 3 days spent on location with David Lynch during the shooting of "Lost Highway". DFW does his usual genius take, ... Read More:

This book is awesome. I read it after my mother passed away and I was only 16 yr. This book taught me so much and I carry it as a sort of life guide...when I feel I'm forgetting the lesson I just refresh myself. This is my most prized book and I still have it near after 10 yrs. Buy this book for any youth you love that has lost or is lost in the world and it will brighted their mind to see that there is more.
