This is my first Paula Deen book so i cannot compair it to any of her other books. I really enjoy this book. I first rented it from the library last year for Christmas and got such rave reviews from the recipes i made that i decided to buy it. It is a small size, but thats not a problem for me. I enjoy her family stories and tips as well.

I had to replace my copy of this book -- it was stolen from me in a hospital waiting room. Anyway, the content is very interesting and I purchased copies for my kids for Christmas. We can always use good tips for using the things we already have around the house.

This is a fabulous "fill-in" book. It fills in when you just have a few minutes to read at a time, like during the week for me. But I don't mean that negatively. You can start and finish however many little interesting stories you can cram in within the time allotted. I happen to be a carpenter and woodworker but nearly every tidbit in here was still new and interesting to me. (Well, at least with the exception of what framing lumber dimensions actually are). I'm kind of a minutiae nut and if you're the same way, you'll love this book. He does an uncanny job of painting mental pictures of arcane topics like the building of guitars, pianos or baseball bats. This is a great little book with big ideas! I teach sewing to kids and have used some of the projects in our classes. I think a good sewer ages 12 and up could independently make some of these on their own!

Two suggestions alone made my life easier. First, after making my bed using Martha's method, all it takes in the morning is a tug at one side, folding the sheet over the covers, then doing the same on the other (one I get out of), fluffing the pillows and I am done! Second, the vinegar and water solution is truly the best for cleaning laminate floors - no longer any residue build up left by commercial cleaners - and costs just pennies.
Plus the daily, weekly etc. schedules for the various tasks are practical and easily adaptable to personal lifestyles and regional climate needs. Last, but not least, the intro may be longer than is customary, but I strongly suggest reading it first to get a complete picture of Martha's philosophy for this book. I ... Read More:

Simple, inspiring projects with modern designs. To me it seemed not too consistent, but it is good enough for the basics of printing. The photos and clean design (of the book and the projects) are the best points of it.

I am so glad I bought this book! I just love to look through it, as everything in here is so inspiring. Nothing is very complicated to make, but everything really has a wow factor to it. I have made the doll on the front cover & am planning to do a few more projects soon. There really are some great, different ideas in here!

I have never tried composting before, so I wanted the big picture. I researched online and this seems to be the undisputed classic book on the subject. It seems to tell ALL you need to know to manage your composting, and in as few words as possible.

If Dan Dye ever decides to stop baking dog biscuits, he's got a sterling career ahead of himself as an author.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable book, even for readers who are not dog crazy, like me. Dye is a talented writer whose humor shines through from the very first page to the last. He takes the reader along on a journey of self-discovery with his deaf Great Dane, Gracie, as his sage and guide.

As with other books that relate stories of living with multiple pets, chaos ensues for much of the story, as Dye recounts the very specific challenges of raising a dog with special needs. Gracie helps Dan discover a latent talent that spins off into a booming business.

As a farm advisor with an extensive agricultural library, I find this book tops most of the text books I have. I recommend this well-illustrated and educational book to organic crop farmers, and to organic farm inspectors and certifiers. You won't be disappointed if you purchase it.
