I get this calendar every year for my sister who lives out of the country. She enjoys it every time. Beautiful inspirations. I was however, disappointed the other Smith and Hawken calendar was not available for 2009.

Fortunately for knitters, Elise Duvekot is a curious and persistent investigator. The unique "knit 1 below (K1B)" technique which emerged during her patient explorations inspired her to find ways to use the resulting cushy, non-curling fabric in a wide range of garments and accessories.
The technique is not, as one Amazon reviewer wrote on November 28, the same as slipping a stitch. A slipped stitch leaves a float and the K1B technique leaves no floats. In fact K1B fabric is reversible, with both sides resembling stockinette, although they are easy to distinguish (and both look great). I hope this reviewer will take a longer look at the book so as not to miss the surprising result of the actual method.

I gifted this book to my friend Arthur who moved to Chicago lately. He went on a cruise with his dad and they ended up having a great time!! The folded towels on his bed is what he most recalled about the trip, so I gave him this book so he could do it himself! And it reminds him of the great times with his dad while he's away in Chicago. It was a perfect gift - he LOVED it!!!

Christen Haden's fun new book "Creepy Cute Crochet" is full of quirky amigurumi creatures ranging from Aliens to Zombies. Crafters who like their crochet with a twist of dark humor will find plenty here to love.
"Creepy Cute Crochet: Zombies, Ninjas, Robots, and More!" contains over 20 different patterns, most of which share the same basic construction of a stuffed snowman-like round body with smaller head. Creatures include a ninja, several different zombies, skeletons, the Grim Reaper, Medusa, an organ-grinder's monkey and Nosferatu (who knew he could look so darn cuddly?). Details such as weapons and eyes are added using felt, polymer clay and embroidery floss.
Crochet instructions are both written and illustrated in ... Read More:

The analogy here is to identify a task you are putting off as "eating a frog" and Brian Tracy sums it up nicely when he identifies in the introduction, 2 rules about eating frogs. 1) If you have to eat more than one frog, eat the ugliest one first. 2) When you have to eat a frog, it's best not to look at it or think about for too long, just get it over with. As the subtitle to EAT THAT FROG suggests, you'll learn 21 Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time.
Some might say there is nothing new here, and they would be correct. However Brian Tracy has a special touch when it comes to reminding us of things we already know, but fail to use. He gives us easy to follow advice and shows us ways to take action. In today's fast ... Read More:

I bought the book for a grandchild who was interested in sewing. This book has wonderful practice pages for the beginner sewer. The book explains and illustrates in a very easy way for the beginning person. I think this book would help anyone who wants to learn to sew, yes, even an adult.

This book is truly infectious - in fact I accidentally purchased 2 and have already got a buyer for the other - all the way downunder in New Zealand!
I say "infectious" because of the effect it is having on me - I want to try new things - buy new products - although here in NZ I have not yet sourced a supplier of Golden! Will find a way though.
Nancy - this is a winner - and thank you Amazon because you bring the most amazing packages to my doorstep - all for the sake of art of course!
I loved this book from the first 5 mins of reading it and truly I completed a painting - I think I've completed it - I may just have to "tweak" it a little more and add more layers - I marbled, I used the gel medium and even my husband ... Read More:

I am nearly finished with this book and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
In the first chapter, I grew somewhat impatient. It seemed a bit overwritten. Mostly though it addressed the question, still alive in scientific circles, of whether or not dogs feel emotions; I think I was more impatient with the question than the writing. As a dog person, I've answered this question to my own satisfaction: of course they do! And indeed, over the course of the book, the author makes a very strong scientific case for the fact that, yes, dogs almost certainly do feel emotions.
What I loved about the book is the author's combination of experience and passion for dogs. Her experience is in helping problem dogs. So much wisdom here. I saw my own ... Read More:

I wanted to learn to crochet just to make amigurumi, the adorable little crocheted animals. Amigurumi World was the perfect book. It includes a section on how to crochet and instructions on how to make over 20 different stuffed animals, plants, and desserts. Ana Paula Rimoli's designs are to die for.
I was pretty new to crochet when I had this book, but I found the instructions simple to follow, especially things like joining parts and adding faces. I've looked at similar books, and the instructions seemed rather complicated. With this book, I've even started using the patterns to make my own designs.
The instructions on making the stitches are very brief, and not very detailed. For someone brand new to crochet, learning with this book would be ... Read More:
