Blacks is the best on the market in terms of law dictionaries. However, the downside is you need an internet connection for it and that is not always the most convenient for those with limited internet access. So much nicer when you can just save things to your computer if you choose.

Arendt's analysis of the "banality of evil" characterized by Adolf Eichmann is a chilling look into how evil can be systematized, how it can be seemingly bureaucratic, and how normal people can be turned into monsters through law.

This is a great book for anyone interested in World War 2, the Holocaust, political philosophy, or getting really really depressed.

Great overview of the MBE questions, covering the types of questions you will see, as well as strategies to help you address them. The explanations for the answers are very helpful. I used this book as a supplement to BarBri. Instead of paying big bucks for PMBR, I worked through the sample questions in this book and listened to the Madonna Ray of Light album. I passed, and I saved a lot of money. I highly recommend both this book and the Ray of Light album for anyone studying for the bar.

This is a fantastic book, and what's more, it has served as a model and inspiration for the many (many, many) football hooligan books that followed.

I won't really comment on the absolute cliched tripe served up by one reviewer who gave this book one star, but I would point out that he might want to take some time out from an all-knowing banality spouting, error decrying, schedule, and consult a calendar.

Among The Thugs - 1993. Most of the others? 1999 and later, including the 2005(!) Gardner tome. This book, almost alone, spawned a veritable minor industry of Football Hooligan memoirs and reportage. This spiritual/religious based book is presented differently than Gandhi, Tolstoy, and other philosophers that I have read. This book is more rooted in the events of the Truth and Reconciliation Committee, a board that Desmond Tutu headed after apartheid ended. The goal of this board was to grant amnesty to individuals and to learn of the travesties that occurred during apartheid. Tutu spends time to talk about the reasons and purpose of the board while lending several chapters to discuss several of the eye-witness reports and events described while heading the committee.

I'm astonished by the one star comments! These people should at least read a story about the way human language emerged and evolved to writing and reading. Maybe "How Writing Came About" by Denise Schmandt-Besserat and perhaps they would start understanding the unimaginable effort done by Helen and the uniqueness of her testimony, as so well expounded by Konrad Lorentz.
Some time ago I had the great opportunity to exchange some emails about this subject with prof. Harold Bloom. Prof. Bloom, who knows very well the story of Helen, suggest that we have not only an internal ear but even an internal eye that allowed Helen to deeply understand the classics she read: her comments are short but so deep. Thomas Sowell - brilliant, blunt, relentlessly honest - is a great wrecker of "enlightened" platitudes, the ideas one finds in newsrooms and faculty lounges, or wherever the "deep thinkers" of the Left come to celebrate their own originality and superior wisdom. Using economics as a scalpal - or a wrecking bar - Sowell shows that much of the "60's Liberal" talk about what's wrong with America - the word "discrimination" is often heard - is little more than bad statistics.
