I have done this diet a few times beside being a VERY EXPENSIVE diet, to buy food for, it does not work for more than a few weeks, look around you many lose weight but they cannot keep it off it kreeps back on...here is a much better and cheaper eating diet..if you are ready to commit 6 weeks to a total makeover try Dr. Fuhrmans book, "Eat for health" I have lost 40 pounds in just over 2 months on this diet, yes i have alot of weight to lose but this is a much safer diet based on eating unlimited whole fruits, beans, lentils, and veggies cooked or raw and some whole wheat pasta but breads are limited ...energy level is great...I cannot thank Joel Fuhrman for a more healthy diet...

As a current second year medical student, I find it very difficult to keep up with all the seemingly random endotoxins, exotoxins, cell wall components, diseases etc. associated with all the microbes that we as medical students are expected to know. However, this book does a excellent job of breaking down all of these components for all clinically relevant microbes into very simple explanations. Chapters are filled with funny pictures that help to incorporate many little details into an image that will not soon be forgotten. This feature along with much repetition throughout chapters almost ensures you will learn the material fully and quickly with very little effort. I have had this book for about 6 or 7 years and it is one I have always had with me. I have used it to experiment with my own health and it has improved as a result. It has been easy for me to understand, it seems to say things that I feel like I know already inside myself, from my own experience. I also had the chance to meet the author and found him to be kind and caring, wanting to help others but not judgmental. I highly recommend the book!

She presents alternative modes of healing as well as knowledge about the conflicts of interest of thyroid drug makers. One advice that I found especially useful was to quit coffee, and drink Yerba Mate instead. I carefully and slowly tapered down my coffee dosage, and then started drinking Yerba Mate tea. As a result, I immediately experienced well being that had eluded me since 1992. Also, I began to watch out for other foods, and discovered that I have many food intolerances. I've learned that there are more factors influencing my Hypothyroidism and my enlarged nodules than I thought. My latest TSH indicates that I am in the normal range, but my symptoms do not reflect such number. We need more patient advocates like Mary Shomon.

Why it is a "good enough" book, not excellent? This book is good enough to provide great ideas/concepts to both me and my child to start the subject. It's not as formal and serious as majority books in the market regarding this topic, but it's good enough for me to initialize the conversation with my child. My child would learn more and easier, if he learn in a fun way.

Generally I think it is a good parenting-aid book, at least for me.

This amazing and powerful book helped me to witness and tend to my father during his passing. His process followed to the letter what the book promises to those who are willing to listen/observe with a ear/eye to the symbols and metaphors a dying person will use as they move in and out of lucidity passing back and forth beyond the veil of death. Just as the book suggested would happen my father not only told us when he would die, but how he would die, what the next space/dimension looked like, and who was there to aid him on his journey. He asked and we gave him permission to leave his body and go to the light. It was powerful and life-changing. I recommended the book to the physicians who tended him during his end days. Looking at the ingredients for some of the recipes, one would think that the outcome would be bland. I haven't had a miss yet out of the half dozen recipes I've tried, which is unheard of for me and recipe books. The only thing that could make this one better is the addition of color photographs, but that doesn't take away much when you know that what you are making will be great- even without seeing a picture!
