As the last line of the book was so succinct in stating, the ideas of "the field" may indeed alter science forever, but it is, "only a start." I would not recommend this book if you desire a technical analysis. For example one small gripe I have is the author barely glossed over how the REG machines worked on their own (without consciousness influencing them). Another small problem is that the author does not breach far into refuting arguments against the field. Essentially the book describes a series of varying experiments and then explains what the evidence means to supporting the field. The topics hone down to one major category: the science of mind and body and their connection. But towards the end she goes into alternative energy and the ... Read More:

How to Raise a Puppy You Can Live With Of the many books that have been written about raising puppies, this one has truly stood the test of time. It provides an easy to follow formula for success. Readers learn all about puppy selection as well as secrets to socializing and training that result in a successful transition from puppyhood to adulthood. The end result is a dog whose personality is well suited to his human family and environment rather than one who will be abandoned or relinquished to an animal shelter. I love the fact that Rutherford's and Neil's methodology incorporates positive reinforcement only. Their keen understanding of canine behavior provides a solid background for what they teach. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who ... Read More:

A must read. In 2002 I wrote a review about the previous edition. Now I am a professor and have a doctorate, so I actually reference the book in my marketing and management classes. Great book for so many disciplines.

The Other End of the Leash: Why We Do What We Do Around Dogs
I have read a lot of dog books. This one is definitely in my top five. A must read for those of you who are serious about doing the right things for your furry friend.

I bought this book years ago, and just recently my life changed enough that I needed to read it again. I have no idea where that original book is, so I bought it again. This book is timeless in it's knowledge and information. There are things that we never know exist until our eyes are open. It's simply amazing how the laws of the universe are fact, and how they go on whether or not we believe them, understand them, or even know about them. This is one of many books everyone should have in their library, next to other books that help us understand and expand our knowledge. This is a treasure, and I am very thankful it is still in print. I will hold onto this one!

Begley, the well-known science writer from Newsweek and the Wall Street Journal, is a genius at translation. She has the ability to go from scientific research to the application of that research to life. Typically, scientists stick to their science, and practitioners stick to their professional practice. Begley has a near-unique ability to make the successful translation between the two disciplines.
She's also an interesting--even fun read. This book, among the first to show the practical relevance of the mass of neuroscience research churning out of our best institutions, challenges much conventional wisdom regarding our minds and our intelligence. I'm well aware that overturning conventional wisdom doesn't change the orthodoxy, yet I'm also ... Read More:

I have used the techniques described in this book with two cherished puppies--a Jack Russell and a Border Terrier. It is simple, clear, effective--and it works! I often make it a gift to friends who are new dog owners. Followed correctly, it will prove to be one of your best "new owner" resources. Good luck using it with one of the best friends you will ever have.

This book is very helpful and informative. I didn't know much about AS previously. The author has extensive clinical experience with AS patients. He includes his own insights as well as those of other people. He includes many descriptions and examples. I am only half way through the book, but I am recognizing many symptoms in my teenage daughter. It explains alot! Even things I would not have connected with AS. This book is not negative in any way. I feel very good about who my daughter is, and understand better why she is the way she is. AS people are very special and gifted. AS people can contribute to the world in ways the rest of us cannot. This book also has some "coping" suggestions, such as how to help the AS person recognize social cues. I would recommend ... Read More:
