Inorder to relieve stress I like to wildcraft (find and collect my own herbs in the wild) this book has quickly become one of my favorites, its easy to use, and for some odd reason it has identified more herbs in the area that I live than any two of my other guides. I attribute this to Steven Foster, as I own numerous of his books, a great herbalist and author.

I purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law. The pictures are beautiful with maps showing where the bird live, and is filled with facts from the different species. It is a agreat comprehensive volume.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from top to bottom. I loved reading about how caring, resourceful, and innovative these zoo veterinarians are. In many cases, they are doing something for the very first time in recorded history, and they manage to do it in most cases successfully and with a wonderful sense of humor. And it's clear they care deeply for their patients, even though they are not "pets". Kudos to Drs. Spelman and Mashima for sharing these charming stories.

I love these field guides! The photographs are fantastic, and are easy to navigate for quick identification. We enjoy looking at these books even when we aren't out scouting for new things to identify. However, this one should not have the "Spider" bit in the title. Woefully lacking content when wanting to identify even the most common of spiders.

This book is very detailed about vermicomposting, in fact, if there is nothing you would rather do than extoll the virtues of worms..this is the book for you. It is informative and useful, but maybe a little long for those who just want to be greener and reduce waste.

Great insight into what is on the back roads in the US. We are from Australia and planning a road trip in the South and it has been incredibly useful for helping us see the "real" America. We have done all the big cities so now we want to hear music and talk to people who are "America". This book will let us do that.

The Consilience of Neuroscience, Jamesian Psychology, Buddhism, and Quantum Mechanics


This excellent work reminded me of E.O Wilson's assertion that the sciences, humanities, and arts have one purpose: to give meaning to "a conviction, far deeper than a mere working proposition, that the world is orderly and can be explained by a small number of natural laws."

Dr. Jeffery Scwartz and Sharon Begley have, through a masterful integration and consilience of quantum mechanics, neuroscience, Jamesian and Buddhist psychology, done a wonderful job explaining issues in consciousness and why purposeful volition and awareness, "mindfulness" and the "power of mental force" works in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Way too much read, reminded me of a college textbook. Would have saved paper if it had been more to the point and therefore fewer pages.
