The title of the book and the film never seemed to appeal to me. When Amazon had this as a Gold Box Deal I thought 1,500 reviews couldn't be wrong.
WOW, I love it. Mr. Darcy such a character. You cannot stand his attitude when you first meet him but you love his looks. I knew Miss Elizabeth loved and hated him right from the the start. Being a romantic at heart the looks they exchange.....hmmmm young love.
If you have never seen it, this is a very nice edition. The film is beautiful in sight and feelings. The costumes are so finely done. I highly recommend this edition.
I will note that with an HDTV and upconverting DVD player it is very nearly in HD, considering it was made in 1996 I consider this a very ... Read More:

Three stars? Three and a half stars? On one hand, it's formulaic stuff. On the other hand, it pairs up Jackie Chan and Jet Li for the first time...
I had a sinking feeling a while ago, when I saw that this movie was being promoted with the youngsters in mind. Turns out, THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM is good enough that I'm glad I got the chance to see it, and to enjoy it for what it is, which is a decent but routine and defanged martial arts picture aimed at kids. But should fans of Jet Li and Jackie Chan feel cheated? Maybe. Probably.
The premise revolves around Jason Tripitkas (Michael Angarano), a bullied Boston teenager who is geeked about all things wushu, to the extent that he hangs out a lot at a shabby Chinese shop in search ... Read More:

On the one hand, the music, the costumes, the hair, and the scenery are all very well done; and the movie does have a good fast pace to it. The designers showed great perception in having different levels of up-to-dateness and fashion among the various characters; the visuals are almost without fault, and the soundtrack is not bad at all.
On the other hand, Jane Austen should never seem fast-paced, even within the limitations of cutting a novel down to fit within 2 hours or so (there's a reason why there's a mystery series where the detective is Jane Austen herself) and there is also lacking in the movie a sense of Jane Austen's ineffable good humor. People are all to willing to tell their secrets, and constantly saying "Oh, didn't you ... Read More:

I tried to watch this film 3 times on one of the premium channels and fell asleep each time. I guess I don't find the characters that exciting. Sure the film is violent but that doesn't equate to interesting for me. If you like watching a senseless hood track people down to kill them with a "souped up" cow killer, this film is for you. FOR THE REST OF US - WE HAVE BETTER USE FOR OUR TIME.

Hot Fuzz rocked, but this one was a little slow and lacked a plot. It wa s a little long winded. It did have some funny lines that made me laugh out loud, but it was not as funny as I thought it would be. PQ/AQ 4/5.

This is one of the most outstanding movies I have seen in a long time. It is a must see for any family, especially if they have teenagers. The acting is remarkable! Abigail Breslin is a joy to watch! I have personally watched this movie 3 times already...and will watch it many more times with friends....it's that good!!!!
