Love my Garmin nuvi. It's reliable and fun and reasonably priced. I didn't want all the bells and whistles and didn't want to have to pay for them. With my Garmin nuvi, I didn't have to.

We purchased the Garmin 350 because our auto has a GPS system, and this is merely a backup, eg for car rentals, or for walking around. For its price, it's great--compact (it fits in a shirt pocket), easy to use, and can be supplemented with travel cards, if desired. If you need them, full instructions are on the unit as a PDF file.

This product is easy to use and is very user friendly. The display is large enough to see while driving and the voice commands are usually far enough in advance to not miss turns.

Well satified and pleased with the Tom Tom GPS so far. I have only had the chance to use it one time so far and it performed perfectly. Good price - good product.

This has completely changed how we travel. As an example, my wife and I were moving and we had one weekend to find a rental. We visited 13 rentals in two days across three different, completely unfamiliar towns...and we were completely aware of where we were and where we were going the whole time. Our move from AZ to PA was also a lot easier with this device. Voice speaking of street names is essential.

Two cons. Occasionally, for no apparent reason, it sometimes takes a long while to find satellites. We're talking 3-10 minutes. Second, the point of interest database in Altoona, PA, is for whatever reason woefully out of date and inaccurate.

There is a lot of information out there on buying a GPS unit. I went through it all, learning about the bells and whistles, which one people liked better, blah-blah-blah. I ended up with readers burnout and decided to go back to basics: "...which unit would get me to where I'm going OR make sure I know where I am". That was my base criteria. The Garmin nuvi 260W fits the bill perfectly. My reasons for buying this one were it does all the basic stuff I need/want (where am I?) and it adds a wider screen, I can unclip it for portable use, and even though I don't/likely won't use it, it comes with a card reader suporting a few of those bells and whistles people seem to think are important. We went to Seattle, Vancouver, BC and then Yakima Valley. We enjoyed the Garmin. It was our first experiencer owning a GPS and it made driving around easier. My wife navigates and the Garmin allowed her to relax. The only down side was the free MNS service was never able to update or give useful information. It was worth what we paid for the service.

I've been using this for about a month now. It's been an invaluable aid to navigation in that time, as I recently moved to a new area.

The heart of the GPS is its direction finding capability. It gives clear, concise directions, which are also displayed on the map, as well as spoken. The directions have not yet been wrong, although they may not always give you the route that you would normally think to use if you knew the way. The only problem I have seen is that when inputting an address for the GPS to find for you, it tends to undershoot the exact address. I am a service technician for a national security company. My route includes D.C and Maryland. My front seat always had a milk crate loaded with maps for these areas. I decided to purchase a GPS to make my life easier and it has made a huge difference. I no longer have to look at the maps and pull off to the side of the road. GPS is great. I looked at every GPS out there and had gotten many good comments about Garmins ease of use. After deciding on the model (nuvi 255w) i will say i am very pleased. However i will also like to mention that on my model(may just be my GPS) when i want to change from one state to another i have to unplug it to reset it.
