GARMIN 010-00454-00 Quest 2 Portable GPS

I have used other hand held GPS units and this one works well if you don't mind a lot of button crunching to load a route. Using the CD and loading routes with your PC is much easier.
I can see the screen well enough with the unit mounted on my bars just off of center to the left. The mount (sold seperately) is simple and holds the unit surprisingly secure. I used the find function for directions and found what I was looking for the first time. You have to take the map data with a grain of salt. I used the same function (find) and reviewed the listings in my home town and several of the establishments are no longer in business.
For the price I am very pleased with this GPS.

I am very please with the product. The only problem I have had, is that the cord broke where it secures into the back of the garmin. Thankfully, I could purchase another one.

This was a refurbished unit which made for a nice cost savings. I had assumed that it would have the current maps installed, which was not the case. My area (Phoenix) has had a fair amount of growth in recent years and I've found numerous instances where businesses and addresses that were put in two years ago are not in the database. It's a little frustrating to be faced with having to buy an expensive update for what should be a new/current system.

Operation wise the unit works fairly well. Going through a complex freeway/overpass the system will may give an accurate instruction for an exit to take but too late to actually take it. Need additional map software for anything but MAIN highways. Lots of software available, but a bit of a disappointment. Replacing an older Garmin, expected better map built in.

Brunton Nomad V2 Pro Digital Compass with Barometer/Altimeter

I love this tool and used it regularly on a recent motorcycle tour of Colorado. The barometer showed local atmospheric conditions and helped us with daily route planning and it was fun to use to the altimeter and see just how high we were - over 12, 000 feet in Rocky Mountain National Park. The compass came in handy on our hikes.
This is not a difficult tool to use and the displays are easy to read. It appears to be made of the usual Brunton quality. I didn't give it five stars because of the included instructions. Finding this hard to read document riddled with typos and confusing layout included with this sophisticated instrument struck me as bizarre.
Instructions aside, this is one useful gadget.

I purchased this Because of Price and learned that going cheaper isn't allways better. I used it three times and now the unit won't even turn on. I've called customer service and get some guy in India who I could barely understand. It's not worth the hassle, Just spend the money on a Garmin.I saw some reviews where they were satisfied with there Magellin.I have nothing good to say about it and won't purchase another magellin product.

First let me say that this is my first GPS, and was clueless as to which unit to buy. I completely relied on reviews posted on Amazon to help me learn about GPS from other owners. I wanted a unit that would be used more on the trail and kayaking then car use. But I needed a reliable unit for driving, I can only afford one unit. The Quest is small and fits a foward pocket on my backpack. Its waterproof for use on the kayak. Its recgargeable enough for day use. Only drawback appears to be it will not allow you to switch batteries on the trail. The battery is a lithium-ion battery which has a life of 8 hours of continuous use. After that recharge. Garmin eTrex Venture CX Color Mapping Handheld GPS

I purchased this GPS so my family could start to go geocaching. It has been awesome. I don't think it has ever lost coverage even though we are sometimes in the thick woods. The batteries also last a long time. I would highly recommend this product.
