Swann 100 Foot Siamese Cable

I used this cable for my night vision Q-SEE QSB550SR camera. At day time everything worked just fine, but at night the camera would just turn off automatically. It turned out the electric current from the power adapter was just getting "lost" in the cable. So the camera simply did not get enough power for its IR lenses.
This cable may work OK if you plan to use it with a small regular camera without the night vision function, but I don't recommend it for the night vision cameras.

I have several of these Camera's setup and have used other cheaper wirless camera's. It is worth the extra money to go with a quality camera which doesn't lockup and continues to operate. I am very satisfied with Axis, I only with there security software would run on a mac. I have 5 of these in my house, mainly as a nanny camera. I am very happy all the way, very configurable and the wireless is amazingly reliable. I was very skeptical at first, now I would recommend any Axis camera's to anyone who needs them.

I'd really give this camera 3.5 stars. If setup were easier, it would be a solid 4, if it didn't have manual focus 4.5, if all of above were true and the company's manual or website gave decent support, it would be 5 stars because of the low costs but high features.

My Trendnet IP312W is connected to a Mac (OS X Leopard) airport express network used for home and baby monitoring. Mac support from Trendnet's site and manual for this product is woefully low.

I am using it with Evocam software, which provided moral support during the various evenings I spent getting it to work. (Eventually selecting "use RTSP" for this camera in Evocam brought an image from the camera, that was after I changed the camera's default IP address, ... Read More:

I have two now and another on order. These are great little cameras for indoors, and out. They do say water resistant, but I am going to fabricate an enclosure to keep the sprinklers off. They can be hidden from view. I put one in a window looking out. Another is outside looking down the driveway. Mounting tip: use the screws provided and a 4-12" piece of 2x4. Very portableand concealable! Good color picture. NOT day or night, no infrared LEDs. But overall picture, in daylight color runs circles around Swann Bulldog (and cost 50% less). I am going to use with street lamps & security type lights. Does have audio, but I have not used that. For what it is, it is very cost effective. I bought this for a relative, and installed it in their house. We're returning it, and not even thinking of getting a replacement. Here's why:

1. It doesn't work. Though the base station does seem to make some nice gestures at seeming to work, and it does call out to your phone numbers assigned when you test it, the included sensors can't register on the base station beyond about 5-6 feet.

2. It's poorly documented. Just in the very first minute of installation, I somehow triggered the alarm, and didn't realize that there is a switch/button under the battery door of the main unit that basically sets off "System Panic" once you remove the battery door. You have to have the witherwithal to get the cover on neatly, make sure it's snug ... Read More:
