The strainer is almost impossible to get seated so the oil bypasses, as well as material that needs to be filtered out. The strainer clogs readily and it takes quite a while to even attempt to filter the cooking oil. Very frustrating to use.

Oxo Good Grips 8-Inch Double Rod Strainer

It does its job, it hasn't come apart, and it shows no signs of rusting or breaking. All I want is a tool that does its job well. This one does exactly that. Its hardest use in my household is straining "things" from my beer and mead brewing experiments. That typically means 5 gallons of hot fluid with varying weights of things that must be strained out. No problems.

Bought both the 6" and 8" Oxo sieves. Useful every day for cooking tasks; for boiling little bits of things to go along what's in the pot, or for straining what comes out of it. Great size and sturdy construction. (Although I think they are too expensive. After all, they are only strainers to remove water from food.)

I'm happy with the quality of this colander. I make pasta about once a week, and the plastic one I had previously wasn't working for me. The pasta clung to the plastic and got caught in the holes. I've had this one for a couple months and I find it easy to use and it is very sturdy.

If your kitchen lacks a small strainer... you can't do better than have one of these! Perfect for straining out lemon pips, or anything else that calls for a tablespoon of something or other, strained!
This strainer is extremely well built and will last for years and years. It is an excellent buy. A perfect wedding present!!

Polder KTH-1009-75 9 Inch Round Footed Strainer, Stainless Steel

I bought this to rinse Quinoa, but the holes are not small enough for that. However, this is great for rinsing rice of any size and any pasta. The feet make it super easy compared to my handled strainer; I just set this in the sink and dump in the stuff to rinse and give it a good shake with the slip-proof handles. I am glad I got it!


Hint: I found that to rinse Quinoa, spread it out on a fine mesh splatter screen and carefully spray it clean. A splatter screen is a screen disc you use over a pan for frying to reduce the mess, very handy tool.
