This is the second Presto pressure canner we have purchased. A smaller one was purchased in 2004 and has received much service for home canning. We bought the 23 quart size since it can be used as a pressure canner and is tall enough to also serve as a water bath canner for quart jars. With the 23 quart size you can stack pint jars on top one another for two layers which is a great time saver when you have a lot of food to can. We have not used the canner for cooking large amounts of food, but there is a recipe book enclosed instructing how to use the unit as a cooker. Canning instructions are clear and many foods are covered. This canning season we used both canners at once with excellent results.

I've looked and checked out many other pressure cookers before buying this one. From the costly ones in department stores to others online. Department stores prices were to high and I couldn't get any product information from the sales people I would talk with. After reading the reviews here I decided to purchase the Presto. Best choice I've made. The arrival was within a few days. The Cooker is great looking after using it for four different meals. We have enjoyed a delicious pot roast, chicken with veggies, and a hard to cook oxtail stew. There was no problem with reading the directions on how to use. I did it without my husband my assistance. This canner is a good price and works well. However it is best for 7 small mouth jars as the large mouth ones fit too tight in the rack and tricky to remove.

Very well constructed. Excellent capacity. New pressure technology is superior to old style on my 20-year old unit. Easier to use and comes complete with needed accessories. Nothing extra to buy. I recommend it.

I was so excited to get a canner that can do such huge amounts and to upgrade from my $10 thrift store purchase of a presto canner. I have had nothing but trouble.
The first time was actually ok, sadly because that was still within the 30 day return policy. The second time I used it steam was billowing out of the canner. I stopped and fixed that with more petroleum jelly. Apparently has to be applied every time. I recanned the beans the next day and now the lid is stuck on the canner. I was using the handle on top to turn it and it started twisting in my hands and the plastic covering shattered. I am not a strong person, but apparently I was able to bend a metal handle. I love the item but it took a month to get it. The tomatoes were done before it came in the mail. It started in Michigan went to Maryland and back to Michigan before I got it.

I HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT SEVERAL TIME AND ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. IT IS EASY TO OPERATE AND CUTS THE COOKING TIME TO HALF OF WHAT IT USED TO TAKE ON THE STOVE.

We put the canner through it's paces the first week, doing over 100 jars of canned beef. It worked perfectly, was wonderful!

The Presto pressure cooker is wonderful--works like a charm. I have had Mirromatic pressure cookers all my life, but now I have found the Presto is better. I especially like the fact that it is stainless steel and not aluminum.

This is my first pressure cooker and it works fine. I used it several times since I bought it 2 weeks ago. So far there is no problem with cooking at all. A few points: (1)I feel that there were a lot of residual lubricants and aluminium dusts from the manufacturing process after I got my cooker, so I washed it really carefully + scrape it with a hard sponge to remove metal dusts, as I don't want those stuff in my food... It might or might not be the right thing to do though. After I started using it, I don't feel that complusive with removing all metal traces any more. (2)It might be the problem of my water quality (I am in St Louis), or it might be a normal phenomenon, that after I put water in the cooker overnight, the soaked surface stained dark... The new ...
