Oxo Good Grips POP Rectangle 3-2/5-Quart Storage Container

I had a hard time finding a nice, reasonably priced container to store linguini, spaghetti and other long pasta shapes. This one is perfect. I fit two boxes and one package of linguini in it but I'm sure I could fit four, and possibly five, if I took them out of their packaging. This container is about 12 1/2 inches high with the popper button down and about 13 inches high when it's up. It's easy to clean and easy to use. Another great product from Oxo (Oxo's salad spinner is excellent).

The listing on Amazon currently shows "Two 5.5-quart" containers are included with this set. That is incorrect. There are two 4 quart containers in this set. This information can be confirmed at the OXO Web site. The containers themselves are great.

Oxo Good Grips Spreader

This is not a kitchen essential, but I love it. I only bought it to take advantage of the 4 for 3 promotion, and as it turns out, I use it almost everyday. I have had it for over a year, and it still looks like new. I rarely use the dishwasher, so I wash mine by hand. I probably wouldn't bother putting something like this in the dishwasher anyway.

I like to bake, and I use the spreader to spread butter over the dough for cinnamon rolls, spread pizza sauce over pizza dough, and I have used it a couple of times to put the frosting on cupcakes. What a great tool for 5 bucks!

Oxo Good Grips 10-1/2-by-15-Inch Utility Cutting Board, Blue Edge

My wife and I love to cook. We must have a dozen cutting boards, from the County Fair purchased flimsy plastic 24"x20" monster to the tiny 5"x8" poly to the heavy wood block beast (that we hardly ever use). By far, this is the first board we grab. The board does have a little bit of flex when chopping - the rubber side grips raise the board of the countertop just a wee bit.

Pros: size allows for many sizes of prep jobs, rubber ends prevent sliding, built in liquid catcher groove thing (yeah, thats the technical term).

Cons: none found

Recommendation: Buy today. Wait, buy two. Trust me.

Oxo Good Grips Garlic Press

I've owned this for a few years. I quickly learned to move the handles down a bit before I put in the dishwasher. Give it a good shake and let dry and it's ready for the next use. I use it at least once or twice a week for the last few years. This by far is the best garlic press that I've ever owned. I love the fact that you can clean it by inverting the handle and that it can go in the dishwasher. I've had other garlic presses and this is the best that I've used thus far. It is easy to use with arthritic hands.

Oxo Good Grips Stainless Steel Colander

Great quality.

perfect for macaroni, as the holes aren't large enough to let the noodles slip through.

Also, it might be useful as a weapon, assuming you needed one...

You could probably... probably crush someone's skull in with a forceful swing if it came to that.

just kidding. it's pretty lightweight.

Oxo Good Grips Shrimp Cleaner

We love OXO products, but this one is not one of them. Shrimps get mangled. Might be good for very large shrimp though, but not for medium ones. My wife found it faster to just use her nails.

Oxo Good Grips Seal and Store Rotary Grater, White

Works great while it lasts - I've owned 2, and none made it past 2 months. The plastic breaks if the cheese is a little hard - and since I mostly use it for parmesan cheese, and that can be hard at the crust, it's not a good thing...

Oxo Good Grips Lettuce Knife

I have had this knife for a couple of years and it is an invaluable tool in my kitchen. Not only is it wonderful to have a nylon knife for cutting lettuce (to avoid browning), but it is great for cutting into a nonstick pan.

For example, if you make lasagne, fudge, a 9x13" cake, or any one of a number of things that might be made in a nonstick baking pan and you need to cut portions right out of the pan. With your steel knives you will end up scratching the nonstick. With this knife you don't have to worry about that. Not only that, but it cuts quite well.
