It worked great for a few weeks and suddenly the door won't open on the first or second try. Not sure what happened.

I love my rice cooker. The white rice comes out very fluffly. It only takes about 30 mins to cook 1 cup of rice. (american cup,i don't use the cup that comes with the rice cooker because it is smaller ) It takes shorter amount of time than most of the fuzzy logic rice cooker which requires at least 45 mins. I used the slow cook feature to make porridge which turns out perfect. I like the pre-set time feature. I like the retratable power cord and the water collector on the side. I also like the 'beep' when the rice gets done instead of japanese song in some other brand. One thing though. It is not recommend to wash rice in the cooking pan. I HAVE ALWAYS OWNED PANASONIC MICROWAVE OVENS--I PASS THEM DOWN AFTER ABOUT 10 YEARS OF USE BECAUSE OF STYLE CHANGES.
I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED WHEN THE NEW ONE ARRIVED. I LOVE THE NEW SLEEK DESIGN. IT HAS GREAT INSTANT FEATURES AND I AM SURE IT WILL LAST ANOTHER 10 YEARS.

Rest assured that the low price of this rice cooker does not mean that you'll get low quality rice. Just the opposite actually. My first rice cooker was a fancy (expensive) fuzzy logic version, and I returned it because it made awful rice. This rice cooker makes perfect rice of every variety. With brown and whole grain (or any rice that requires cooking longer than 20 minutes per bag instructions), you need to add a bit more water - approx. 1/8-1/4 cup depending on type of rice.

This unit is great and the only reason it did not rate a five star is because my wife doesn't like the push button door opener. She would like to be able to pull on a handle to open the door. As for me, I would give it five stars. I read allot of reviews before I chose this unit. One review said that their unit was noisey but ours is not. The plate of food option works great for me. It is the first microwave we owned that actually heated the whole plate of food evenly. It has an unbelievable amount of space inside. We are very happy with it.

Great rice cooker. I tried white and brown rice. Perfectly cooked, every time. The spring loaded cord is surprisingly handy, and stores cleanly. Very easy and hassle free. I have used cheapo cookers, and this one is well worth the money. Healthy, delicious brown rice was easy, and perfectly cooked. I highly recommend this!

Microwave works great except for the terrible front panel display. If, like me, you install the unit on a counter top and want to be able to read the display, you had better be under 5 feet tall. Unreadable unless you stoop down...
