Love to play this cd in the background for the meal and then again with a glass of wine afterwards to listen to the amazing collaborative genius. Great cd, phenomenal artists- highly recommend this one!
First off - the idea of these is great. They are sturdy, compact, and a neat design that the boys love.
When I make popsicles out of juice or fruit, all is well. They do drip outside the holder at the bottom, even for the neatest eaters, so outside is the trick. But that's just fine.
My only challenge so far has been making ice cream pops. We make our own ice cream and I want to freeze it into popsicles. But I have not been able to get the ice cream to come out of the mold on the stick, no matter how long I leave it in the freezer. Any suggestions?
My 3 year old loves to help me make the popsicles. And it's a nice way to teach patience, because he has to wait for them to freeze. He loves it.
It's great to make your own so you can control the sugar levels and make a nice healthy summertime dessert.
I really like this ice cube tray, some of the negative reviews do have good points to them, but I don't think those points are as bad as they have been made out to be. You will need to push the cubes out from the bottom instead of just twisting the tray to release, no big deal there. I haven't tasted "rubber" or anything else since I started using them, maybe those people didn't wash them first? Yes, it is more difficult to move to the freezer without spilling water. But, I found if you refill it while the tray is still cold, the water will form a very small layer of ice on the top, which helps to prevent the water in the tray from sloshing around when you move it. Another easy way to avoid spilling water is to simply not fill it up the entire ... Read More:
Everyone should own one of these amazing spatulas. I love the way it feels in my hand -- has some "heft" - but not at all "heavy". I used it to stir some boiling pie filling the other day - and it performed perfectly. No distortion or melting - thanks to the silicone. The handle did not get hot. Works wonderfully and it's classy looking, too, which I would expect from Tovolo. Beautiful tool.
I subscribe to Cook's Illustrated which reviewed spatulas in a recent issue and gave this high marks. I bought it and agree that it is the best. Handle is comfortable and blade well shaped and just stiff enough.
If you make your own baby food, silicone is the way to go! I started making prune puree for my daughter and I bought both silicone trays and standard "twist and pop" trays to try out. I simply could NOT get the prunes out of the plastic tray, no matter how much I twisted, turned, grunted, and grumbled, but all I had to do with these was bend the tray and poke the back with one finger and out popped the cube. Like most ice cube trays, each opening is 1 oz exactly (I checked with a measuring cup and water), so you can portion the food precisely.
I don't know about making ice in these, as I haven't tried it. You WILL need to have a flat surface in your freezer that can accommodate the tray, and you will want to cover with plastic wrap before ... Read More:
With the assistance of these cute contraptions making ice cream sandwiches becomes incredibly easy. You begin by baking your favorite soft and chewy cookie recipe. Next, you allow them to cool slightly before cutting out the cookies with whichever shape you decide to use. This kit comes with a heart, star, and a squircle. I'm not making that up. They actually refer to the odd shaped mold as a "squircle." There's also a kit that comes with animal shapes (a chicken, cow, and pig) if that's more your style. After cutting out your cookie shapes let them cool completely on a wire rack. Finally, assemble the cookies by placing one cookie in the mold, adding a scoop of ice cream, topping with an additional cookie, and firmly applying pressure with the cookie ... Read More:
I first heard about this from Cooks Illustrated and I am very pleased with this spatula. It is really good for scraping down the sides of a mixing bowl, especially while using a stand mixer. The handle is long and slender, and the head is flat on one side and tapered on the other side. It's strong enough to use with a stiff mixture of ingredients. I will be ordering another one in a different color. This has become my favorite spatula when I use my mixing bowl because it is very easy to use and comfortable especially if you have small hands. Thanks Cooks Illustrated for recommending this great product by Tovolo. Great price too!
