Moving into our new home, we decided to take the plunge and ditch our Walmart wineglass collection in favor of something a bit more formal. These wineglasses look lovely, are extremely durable and will not bust your budget. Be sure to buy these large sized wineglasses rather than the smaller (5 ounce or so) size. The only downside is Amazon shipping. For some reason, Amazon chooses to ship these wineglasses, which are boxed, in a shipping box devoid of packing material. Miraculously, they survived.

I ordered six boxes of these glasses = 24 of them. Out of the 24, only six were salvageable after shipping. They were not packaged properly - absolutely no bubble wrap used - and were shattered. I will NOT order something breakable like this from Amazon again. This is a huge disappointment!

Riedel Vinum Bordeaux Wine Glasses, Set of 6

I have >100 Riedels and I use them as my everyday wine glasses. I love the difference it makes on the tasting of the wines. I have now done several demonstrations for my friends and they all agree that it really enhances the experience of tasting the wines.
As to their fragility...I have only broken 2 - a chardonnay and a burgundy one. I think those are more fragile.
I do handwash them, use very little soap and really only rub the rims...and most of the time I wash them right after the party. I find my experience very different than some of the comments

For keeping champagne fresh and sparkling and chilled, this stopper is just the ticket. I've had an open bottle laying on its side in the refrigerator for over a month now and it still as fresh as the day I opened it.
