If you're a political junkie, probably more left leaning, then the weekly edition of Washington Post hits the spot. This edition includes indepth reports, articles, and their opinion columns for the past 7-10 days of each issue. After living in Washington, D.C. for four years, I got spoiled with the every day and behind the scenes reporting conducted by the Washington Post. This weekly edition is second only to the daily editions. I think it's a better choice than buying the Sunday edition available across the country. And Amazon offers a great price.

I ordered the Financial Times in August as a gift for my husband. I allowed for the 2-6 weeks for delivery to begin as stated on the site when I ordered. It is now the middle of October. We have received one copy of the FT, a week ago, and not a single copy since. I have contacted customer service several times and they have not remedied the situation. I am completely unsatisfied and do not have a single positive thing to say concerning this fiasco. I'm canceling the order and subscribing directly through the Financial Times perhaps I'll have better luck there.
I ordered this subscription for my son. The paper delivery started sooner than expected. It arrives promptly each week day and is in perfect condition. My son has enjoyed the articles, particularly those in the sports section. He plans on renewing the subscription when it runs out.

I really like the global format of The Week; it covers news from all over the world on a wide spectrum of topics, from serious to gossipy. But most of it is in the form of opinions from editorialists and columnists, all of whom have their biases. You can always count on getting two or more contrary opinions on every issue, but you can't count on getting any neutral in-depth analysis. This sometimes leaves me feeling more confused than enlightened - trying to understand the world through opinions can be challenging. Having said that, reading The Week is fun and it will keep you current on domestic and international headline news, and it doesn't hurt to read what people in foreign countries are saying and thinking.
I picked up the New York Times recently after a 15-year hiatus. I admit it was better than it had been circa 1988; at that time anything any Washington insider said was reported uncritically and the NYT had and has its share of the responsibility of pushing our nation closer to barbarism. But overall, I found the paper nearly as complacent, banal, thoughtless and ignorant as before.
Now I am man who used to read the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Economist and Christianity Today every day (I know not all are dailies, but you have to spread it out). I was frighteningly informed on most things. I did not read the Sunday paper which even then made me sick. But I began to notice that something I'd devoted hours and hours to reading over the ... 'The International Jerusalem Post' is a condensed version of what is arguably the best daily newspaper in Israel. The 'Post' has a strong editorial line in support of the state of Israel, and its Jewish values.
It is a very good newspaper.

For those of us who miss being in the center of the universe, reading the Observer is almost like being there. In its pink pages I can read stories about New York's political, arts, society, finance, sex and gossip scene. I can smell the inside of a taxi from my house overlooking the lake in Vermont.
