There are a number of knitting magazines on the market, but only two that are top notch--and this is one of the two. As a knitter, I can't possibly be without either one. The patterns are elegant, the articles relevant and the ads are for the top of the line yarns, books and knitting accessories. You're not a knitter without this subscription!
Great magazine, informative articles, but just be aware it is heavily slanted toward sweaters and tops, less so on accessories or smaller projects. It's also a lot cheaper to subscribe directly from Interweave's website.

This is a great magazine because it offers a great number of patterns in each issue and it has a nice balance of background information and interesting articles. Each pattern and technique offered in this magazine is complete with concise directions, often including pictures and diagrams. This magazine is well worth buying and even subscribing to.
I've been buying knitting magazines for a year now and have finally decided that this is my absolute favorite! I like it because it has a very attractive lay out and a great variety of features. It is very down to earth with sections that focus on the readers: pen-pal ads, want ads, reader questions and photos of projects. There is always a really cute Alan Dart pattern of an animal, ornament or other toy. Debbie Bliss is also a regular pattern contributor. They have a good focus on building basic knitting skills with photos to help explain and a stitch library showing 3 new stitches to try. Interesting articles about knitting, past and present. They always review a groups of yarns in the same weight, as well as several books and websites. Lately ... Read More:
This magazine is mostly aimed at making clothing/wearables and is slick with lots of great pictures. Not for everyone, but like all Tauton publications it is sophisticated and has those articles many other magazines don't cover. Often the articles will cover how designers construct clothing or how great past designers such as Coco Channel changed design, imagined color, constructed their clothing, etc. There are also many imaginative embellishments and views of great vintage clothing. Perhaps not for everyone but has its place and is a feast for the eyes.

I am new to quilting, and am trying to help my church make quilts for charity. Working full time, I thought this might be a great help. Maybe these are quick quilts for those with a lot of experience, but it's not quick for my purposes. It may have also been my mistake by equating "quick" to "easy".
Covers a wide variety of sewing projects and techniques. I subcribed to this magazine for many years, but stopped because sadly I hardly have time to sew anymore and prefer to crochet because I can take it with me. Aimed at the homesewer interested in honing skills or looking for a fun project. This is a helpful publication for beginners but also has aricles and projects to suit more advanced sewers. Also covers latest/useful products. There is a good reason this magazine has been a favorite of sewers for years.
I am mostly interested crochet wearables--this magazine along with the Interweave publication Crochet are highly recommended. The patterns are for a variety of skill levels so there is a project for everyone. I like "vintage re-imagined" patterns and the 2 above mentioned magazines fit the bill. They both also have some fresh and modern patterns. Occassionally Vogue's Knit 1 and Knitting magazines have some great crochet patterns. Knit 1 being aimed at a younger, "hipper" crowd.
A lot of the reviewers here have mentioned problems with one cover story. Don't let that put you off this mag. It and its sister mag MAKE are great. They show a different look at the craft industry than you get when you look in chains like Michaels and Hobby Lobby. Craft and diy are huge and it's not all about scrapbooking and decorative painting. There are heaps of indi crafters doing great things and who, until now, have been largely hidden from mainstream consumers. CRAFT gives these people a platform to showcase their stuff - and it is great - the only pity of it is that in publicising these new takes on old crafts indi is now becoming mainstream! Go figure. Do yourself a favor and check out the magazine - there is plenty to look at and to enjoy. There ... Read More:
