National Geographic

I have been a subscriber to National Geographic since mid 1990s when I was back in Iran. I remember receiving this good magazine with pictures being marked or censored by postal authorities in Islamic Iran yet I loved it. However, this magazine has really lost its once proud tradition of presenting fair and true scientific contents and has replaced it with some liberal agenda driven stuff like promoting nonsense like global warming, world peace and getting anti-U.S rhetoric/politics involved when writing about other nations like their past issue that was dedicated to Iran. All in all, this magazine is good in terms of first rate photographies. 3/5

I have been a subscriber to this magazine for a few years now and it happened immediately after a friend gave me a copy. I'll recommend this to anyone. I'm a perfectionist and think the magazine is perfect. My favorite parts include the terrific articles provided to help make decisions on where to travel to and the absolutely incredible recipes they include.

Since I always browse through it in the checkout aisle, I thought I'd commit for a year and subscribe. The first two issues haven't disappointed, with hidden gems in western towns and great backyard ideas.

A bit too oriented towards certain viewpoints, but worth a try at the cut rate offered in GoldBox. May not renew unless rate is superb.

Texas Monthly

I have been a subscriber to Texas Monthly for close to 20 years. With that longevity, one might think this would be a 5-star review; however, that is not the case. As a person who loves Texas, I subscribe to virtually all magazines with the word "Texas" in their name. As a result of its extremely liberal, left-wing bias and trash-talking about Texas, I have many times been very close to cancelling my Texas Monthly subscription even before the renewal date. At the last minute, however, they seem to include a great article on interesting Texas travel destinations, top Texas steak houses, etc. and I'm hooked (tricked?) into sending in another renewal. It's hard to understand how a liberal blue-state publication survives in one of the reddest states ... Read More:

Received two issues so far. Magazine is packed with 4 and 5 star information and as most magazines like this, too many advertisements.
I do enjoy reading it.

I wanted to give this magazine subscription as a gift but was unable to order it with a gift card or gift notice. I had to call the recipient to tell him to be on the lookout for the magazine to start in 4 to 6 weeks. It would be nice if you offered a gift option with your magazine subscriptions.
