This magazine is well worth the small price, because it is packed with loads of professional training tools that will help one become a better photographer. In addition, there are great reviews, and cliff hangers, such as well written reviews that leave you waiting for more. I appreciate that, since I am taking my time and learning to wield my camera as a tool. It gives me the opportunity to put the information to the test, to actually learn something. I would recommend this magazine to anyone.

I've been a subcriber to this magazine for over 2 years a look forward to it every month. It's packed with new techniques, great new gear (even comparisons btwn expensive pro gear and cheaper alternatives for wannabe pros/hobbyists). great pictures, great articles, and it motivates me every month to seek out new places to photograph!

Honestly, I appreciate the very indepth articles, the reviews, and the advertisements. I like this magazine, and would recommend it to anyone just entering the photography field via the digital camera. The articles provide a lot of training tools to increase your style, and learn your craft.

Photo Techniques Magazine can help serious photgraphers hone their craft, with extensive tutorials on shooting, printing, Photoshop, scanning, and other topics. It's invaluable for both film and digital photographers.
Film photographers will treasure this publication because it's one of the few that still provides tips on traditional film photography and darkroom work, even with medium format and large format cameras. Where else will you find artciles about toning?
This publication deserves your support. Once it's gone, it's unlikely we'll see anything like it again.
I purchased a gift subscription online last October, 2007, but it is April 2008, and my aunt and uncle have yet to receive their issue.
I called the DPP subscription department in January, and they said they had no record of my order. Funny, since I had a printed confirmation in my files...Anyway, I went through the ordering process (again) over the telephone, and that was supposed to take care of it.
Fast-forward to April, 2008, and still no issues had been delivered! I called customer service and the rep said that "the late date" (meaning the latest date of arrival) was end of March. I asked when they could expect an issue.. Apparently, the next "late date" is May 2, and I should call back if they don't get the next one.
As a practicing photographer and not a collector, I've been very disappointed with B&W on the few occasions it's crossed my desk (I've never had a subscription, so I'm basing this on just the few issues I've seen).
Quality wise, the last issue I received was poorly printed - it contained streaks through the images and rampant misregistration, among other things. The paper is unimpressive as is the printing itself - the line-screen looks quite course. In a full-colour magazine, it would be fine, but for one in which everything is in monochrome, I would expect that they would print stochastically or at a higher resolution etc.
In terms of content, every time I've seen this magazine it has been filled with work which is typically very well-executed technically ... Read More:
It is such a beautiful display of fine art photography in the way the images are printed. The articles are fantastic and some are very inspiring with information that you may not have known previously. It makes photography very personal and also very diverse in what you can do with your skills and talent. I highly recommend this magazine to any and all photographers, it's worth the subscription.

I went to local book store to see few photography magazines, including "Aperture", to see what makes this magazine so famous and all.
I just quickly flipped through pages then there were those BnW pictures...
men and women having sex in bushes...like...2 couples or so...
Wow....it made me sick...although those pics didn't show such nudity
it was the idea. What's so artistic about BnW pics of a guy reaching inside a woman's underwear? or Is it that something 'amateurs' like myself cannot possibly understand the true beauty of those pictures. I say it's just BS.
