love it, I renew my subscription every year.
It's elegant, understated and modern,it showcases beautiful interiors, gorgeous flower arrangements and delicious recipes.
I purchased a gift subscription online last October, 2007, but it is April 2008, and my aunt and uncle have yet to receive their issue.
I called the DPP subscription department in January, and they said they had no record of my order. Funny, since I had a printed confirmation in my files...Anyway, I went through the ordering process (again) over the telephone, and that was supposed to take care of it.
Fast-forward to April, 2008, and still no issues had been delivered! I called customer service and the rep said that "the late date" (meaning the latest date of arrival) was end of March. I asked when they could expect an issue.. Apparently, the next "late date" is May 2, and I should call back if they don't get the next one. ... Read More:

I love the magazine... but unfortunately had to cancel my subscription because Synapse Inc. (the company that is shipping arch-record through amazon) is incompetent. The magazine arrived badly damaged (they don't wrap it in plastic when they ship it); to be honest, the injuries to the magazine looked so bad that I suspect it was shipped that way. I was incredibly disappointed and tried to contact Synapse to ask for a new magazine... the only problem is that you can not talk to a live person at Synapse. They have an automated customer service hot line with cleverly-worded questions that make it impossible to get satisfaction. Their website offers no other emails or phone number to contact for help. There is not even an option to cancel your subscription! ... Read More:
There are a number of knitting magazines on the market, but only two that are top notch--and this is one of the two. As a knitter, I can't possibly be without either one. The patterns are elegant, the articles relevant and the ads are for the top of the line yarns, books and knitting accessories. You're not a knitter without this subscription!
I have been a subscriber since the premier issue in 1975. Back then my workshop was a 4 by 8 foot room in front of my carport and my only power tool was an electric drill. The second issue prompted me to make my first hand cut dovetails. The main benefit I still get out of the magazine is it gives me the confidence to try new projects that demand new skills. While I buy Woodwork regularly, and occasionally other magazines at the news stand, Fine Woodworking is the only magazine I subscribe to year after year.
After reading a review here mentioning subscription issues I went directly to American Artists web site and ordered a subscription. That was November 23, 2005 and now Feb. 10, 2006 still no magazine. When I finally complained I got a request to send my credit info again to vnu@espcomp.com. Can't say from looking at that address that I have confidence I was communicating with American Artist or a magazine publisher. Would you send your credit info...I think not. I'd say don't blame Amazon as a previous reviewer did. Hey, the magazine is good if you can get a subscription.
This is a premiere woodworking magazine. Editor Christopher Schwarz has done a great job changing the focus of the magazine from just power tools to a nice blend of power tools, hand tools, beginner and advanced techniques. Having said that, the renewal price I got directly from the publishers website was 25% less than what Amazon was offering.
Also, check out Woodworking Magazine. Another fantastic publication (ad free) from the same publishers.

I like the magazine based on previous single-copy issues I have purchased, but I haven't yet started receiving my subscription. Purchase date was 2/18 and today is 3/28, so probably need to give it a little more time.
I have had a subscription for the past year and was extremely disappointed. I was looking for a magazine that would publish interviews of various painters working in various styles who would explain their techniques and experiences as working artists. I was, however, very disappointed. First, this magazine weirdly seems to be one long advertisement. That aside, the painters and pieces published are all based in realism. I have nothing against realism, but I was looking for a collection of diverse approaches. Something of a salon for painters. This is not what this magazine is aiming to achieve. This magazine would only be potentially useful for an inexperienced painter who is interested in painting classical realism.
I thought this magazine would be full of pages about Antiques with pictures, explanations of the items and possible values. I found it had too much advertising, not enough about Antiques/Antiquing for my taste. Others may love this magazine but I didn't. Going to cancel this one.
