Coin World or Numismatic News? I've been getting both for the past year and Coin World is clearly better. The news coverage is deeper, the letters to the editor are more insightful and it has more advertising. If you can afford both, get both, but if you have to choose, buy Coin World.
I absolutely LOVE this magazine...beautiful, inspiring and even contains tons of how-to's and patterns in the back! I even bought a French dictionary to teach myself how to read French because of this magazine! And i could never find it in a store so I ordered a subscription..sometimes it's a little late, but it has always arrived and is so worth the wait...
As a practicing photographer and not a collector, I've been very disappointed with B&W on the few occasions it's crossed my desk (I've never had a subscription, so I'm basing this on just the few issues I've seen).
Quality wise, the last issue I received was poorly printed - it contained streaks through the images and rampant misregistration, among other things. The paper is unimpressive as is the printing itself - the line-screen looks quite course. In a full-colour magazine, it would be fine, but for one in which everything is in monochrome, I would expect that they would print stochastically or at a higher resolution etc.
In terms of content, every time I've seen this magazine it has been filled with work which is ... Read More:
Great magazine, informative articles, but just be aware it is heavily slanted toward sweaters and tops, less so on accessories or smaller projects. It's also a lot cheaper to subscribe directly from Interweave's website.

In the other reviews nobody has mentioned that ARTnews has done VERY important investigative reporting and even crusading for the restitution of artworks stolen by the Nazis. They have followed other similar lines over a long period of time. I don't think any other magazine has shown such responsibility. They have been trying but have not yet succeeded in covering art of the nation or world as a whole instead of SOOOOOOO much on NYC. That may almost be too much of a challenge as the art world continues to grow and spread out, and so much of it is available online.

This is a great magazine because it offers a great number of patterns in each issue and it has a nice balance of background information and interesting articles. Each pattern and technique offered in this magazine is complete with concise directions, often including pictures and diagrams. This magazine is well worth buying and even subscribing to.
After a while of making scrapbook pages, you sometimes have a mind block and need new idea. The how-to information is great. Love to look through it for new ideas and tools. I don't copy the entire pages, for instance I noticed that one illustrated page had cut along the pattern of the paper and made a cute border. Someone wanted to know what to do with left over letters that didn't spell a word. They made a cute bottom border with them overlapping each other.
ARTFORUM is a big, heavy magazine on the Arts and appears to be now more sensitive to criticisms of the past - many readers felt it was just too esoteric and not pertinent. But things have changed, and while the color reproduction has always been very good, the present magazine is 'state of the art' as far as color separations are concerned. The quality of writing has improved in the last year or two: articles of International happenings and trends in the visual arts are now eloquently written and pertinent. One reason to include a subscription to this magazine among other periodicals on the visual arts is the very sophisticated advertising. A full-page full color ad in Artforum truly makes a statement! Most of the magazine is devoted to advertisements of shows ... Read More:
