Pottery Making Illustrated is a magazine with lots of practical advice for beginning and advanced potters. There is a wide range of subjects focused on topics that are useful. Other ceramics magazines seem to be about cutting edge sculpture, but what if you want to make bowls, plates, or cups?
Pottery Making Illustrated is the place to get that information. One issue I bought had three articles I have used many times and shared with friends.
I am mostly interested crochet wearables--this magazine along with the Interweave publication Crochet are highly recommended. The patterns are for a variety of skill levels so there is a project for everyone. I like "vintage re-imagined" patterns and the 2 above mentioned magazines fit the bill. They both also have some fresh and modern patterns. Occassionally Vogue's Knit 1 and Knitting magazines have some great crochet patterns. Knit 1 being aimed at a younger, "hipper" crowd.
A lot of the reviewers here have mentioned problems with one cover story. Don't let that put you off this mag. It and its sister mag MAKE are great. They show a different look at the craft industry than you get when you look in chains like Michaels and Hobby Lobby. Craft and diy are huge and it's not all about scrapbooking and decorative painting. There are heaps of indi crafters doing great things and who, until now, have been largely hidden from mainstream consumers. CRAFT gives these people a platform to showcase their stuff - and it is great - the only pity of it is that in publicising these new takes on old crafts indi is now becoming mainstream! Go figure. Do yourself a favor and check out the magazine - there is plenty to look at and to enjoy. There ... Read More:

I learned how to quilt from scratch in 2000. At that time, there were few night classes offered in my area for working people, but this magazine helped me learn how to quilt anyway. I appreciate how they rate each project (easy, intermediate, advanced) and show a second colorway to consider. Sometimes they also show an alternate setting (like making a 1 ft wall hanging from a larger quilt.) The section on "gizmos and gotta haves" is really interesting and shows the latest stuff - not stuff that's "old news" or has been around for a while. This magazine usually has one or two paper pieced projects, too. If you've never done paper piecing before, Quiltmaker is a good place to learn how. I also enjoy the finished photos sent in by other readers - it's like a quilt ... Read More:
This is a magazine that pushes you to create more and better beadwork. It focuses on seed beads, not stringing, and really opens up your mind to the possibilities.
Cloth Paper Scissors is a beautiful full color magazine that can inspire and excite an individual to create their own works of art. The magazine is published six times per year, and covers a wide range of doable projects for mixed media enthusiasts.
The January/February 2008 issue included projects with scrap wood and paint, the joys of blogging, how to paint an art apron, and painting a gouache resist gelatin print.
The samples are professional and artistic, and a stong goal to strive for in your art work. Enjoyable to look at and read!
This magazine is inspiring to the beginner and a challenge to the experienced watercolorist. I never tire of seeing the great work of the artists highlighted in this magazine.
The issues often have workshop-like articles on using computer graphics software, how to handle color, composition or other technical aspects. And then there is just the eye candy, purely for artistic pleasure. While your own painting may not reach the heights of these wonderful artists, the act of looking at paintings, of studying technique and seeing alternative ways of expressing subjects is a solid way to improve one's own art. I prefer "Watercolor" to other art magazines because it focuses on my own medium fully and really goes into depth.

I went to local book store to see few photography magazines, including "Aperture", to see what makes this magazine so famous and all.
I just quickly flipped through pages then there were those BnW pictures...
men and women having sex in bushes...like...2 couples or so...
Wow....it made me sick...although those pics didn't show such nudity
it was the idea. What's so artistic about BnW pics of a guy reaching inside a woman's underwear? or Is it that something 'amateurs' like myself cannot possibly understand the true beauty of those pictures. I say it's just BS.
Amos Publishing recently purchased Rubber Stamper Magazine, and includes an expanded section of rubber stamping in their existing Crafts `N Things Magazine. Despite the wonderful rubber stamping pages included within February's issue, if you are looking specifically for rubber stamping techniques and ideas, Crafts `N Things is not best place to look. While the cover claims that there are over seventy five rubber stamping ideas within the magazine, the other half of the magazine covers knitting, crocheting, and other crafts.
The magazine is beautiful with fun projects, but the projects covered are too diverse. Even though Rubber Stampers are crafters, they are not always crocheters or knitters. I found only half of the magazine useful for my needs, and would prefer ... Read More:
