Quiltmania is consistently a high-quality publication with both informative feature stories and well-illustrated projects that include photos and patterns. The flavor is European, and I enjoy the historic bent of the features, always accompanied by a large assortment of photos. Even the ads can be informative and inspiring, although more and more American products are sneaking into their pages. The most recent issue included a long and detailed feature of Eastern European quilts: wonderful. Expensive but a quality treat.
If you are looking to purchase model railroad equipment, this is a good resource. The content concentrates on performance reviews of rolling stock and accessories. Many of the articles are in the bylined "column" format, that is they are recurring features in the magazine. They cover all gauges. This is not a scenery building, layout design magazine, but if you'd like to know about, for example, the latest DCC equipment and how well it works (or doesn't), this is the magazine for you. I find every issue has something for everyone, whether a beginner or old hand. I am a subscriber.
I love this magazine! I cross-stitched in the 70-80s before my eyes were less co-operative which led me to beading. This magazine combines both beading and cross-stitch! The terrific patterns are varied: blackwork, 3D (ex. Santa, mobile, lizards) mixed media (cross stitch paper, box) and of course the usual jewelry (great amulet bags), wall hangings, pillows. They have good instructions-although occasionally the Australian terms for products makes you have to search for that item. They aren't cutesy like many cross-stitch mags. The stitching patterns have a good amt of depth/detail. The paper quality is wonderful and charts are easy to enlarge if you need to. The most recent issue addressed why she added beading. Plain and simple--it kept her ... Read More:

I renewed this magazine because it was somewhat interesting. They cashed my check and never sent another issue. They also did not respond to my email. I recommend Circuit Cellar.
