I like the magazine based on previous single-copy issues I have purchased, but I haven't yet started receiving my subscription. Purchase date was 2/18 and today is 3/28, so probably need to give it a little more time.
I have had a subscription for the past year and was extremely disappointed. I was looking for a magazine that would publish interviews of various painters working in various styles who would explain their techniques and experiences as working artists. I was, however, very disappointed. First, this magazine weirdly seems to be one long advertisement. That aside, the painters and pieces published are all based in realism. I have nothing against realism, but I was looking for a collection of diverse approaches. Something of a salon for painters. This is not what this magazine is aiming to achieve. This magazine would only be potentially useful for an inexperienced painter who is interested in painting classical realism.
I absolutely LOVE this magazine...beautiful, inspiring and even contains tons of how-to's and patterns in the back! I even bought a French dictionary to teach myself how to read French because of this magazine! And i could never find it in a store so I ordered a subscription..sometimes it's a little late, but it has always arrived and is so worth the wait...
Great magazine, informative articles, but just be aware it is heavily slanted toward sweaters and tops, less so on accessories or smaller projects. It's also a lot cheaper to subscribe directly from Interweave's website.

This is a great magazine because it offers a great number of patterns in each issue and it has a nice balance of background information and interesting articles. Each pattern and technique offered in this magazine is complete with concise directions, often including pictures and diagrams. This magazine is well worth buying and even subscribing to.
After a while of making scrapbook pages, you sometimes have a mind block and need new idea. The how-to information is great. Love to look through it for new ideas and tools. I don't copy the entire pages, for instance I noticed that one illustrated page had cut along the pattern of the paper and made a cute border. Someone wanted to know what to do with left over letters that didn't spell a word. They made a cute bottom border with them overlapping each other.
I'm still a fairly new beader so a mag intended for beginner to intermediate doesn't bother me. The problem I have with many of the other bead and/or jewelry mags is that they are mostly big expensive glossy advertisements containing little useful information regarding projects, information or anything related to what I want in a magazine about beads. This one is different and does not disappoint. It may not be as big and glossy as the others, but it has a variety of projects on practically every other page (jewelry, accessories, home projects and more), has very few ads (the ones they do have are unobtrusive), is fun to read and the instructions are clear, easy to follow and so far, accurate. It has a couple articles each month, and each issue is aimed ... Read More:
I've been buying knitting magazines for a year now and have finally decided that this is my absolute favorite! I like it because it has a very attractive lay out and a great variety of features. It is very down to earth with sections that focus on the readers: pen-pal ads, want ads, reader questions and photos of projects. There is always a really cute Alan Dart pattern of an animal, ornament or other toy. Debbie Bliss is also a regular pattern contributor. They have a good focus on building basic knitting skills with photos to help explain and a stitch library showing 3 new stitches to try. Interesting articles about knitting, past and present. They always review a groups of yarns in the same weight, as well as several books and websites. Lately there have ... Read More:
