Pointe Magazine is the finest American magazine devoted exclusively(more or less) to ballet, as opposed to other dance styles. It is geared towards both men and women equally, and is at an adult level. The quality of the coverage is great, and there are lots of interesting regular features, such as highlighting a dancer of the month and question and answers of famous dancers. The quality of the photography is top notch, as is the fantastic paper it is printed on. It is also very affordable. I don't know any ballet dancers who don't subscribe to Pointe!

Electronic House is a magazine devoted to electronic lovers who cannot seem to have enough cords and batteries, twinkling lights, LCD displays, and other electrical indicators around them at all times. This publication covers a wide array of electronic topics and issues, but it seems to be primarily concerned with new products.
The items covered in Electronic House range from the common to the unusual and sometimes very expensive. I am often amazed at some of the things I read about in this magazine and the prices that people are willing to pay to own the perfect piece of electronic merchandise. It is common to see $10,000 audio components, $5,000 projectors, $4,000 speakers, and other outrageously priced luxury items in the pages ... Read More:
Very entertaining if high toned British glossy. Most comparable to American Town & Country. Full of features on England's newest society darling, Lord So-and-so's garden renovation, a bridge column and other eccentric features not commonly found in American magazines. Expensive but usually worth it for a break from the usual American magazine subject suspects and for their annual Society's most desirable guest list.
Amazon usually has great prices on their merchandise, but not with this magazine subscription. My daughter is a big fan of Doctor Who, and has bought this magazine each month for the last couple years, at our local Borders bookstore for $7.99 plus tax. You just have to check each month to make sure you don't miss an issue, but it's a lot cheaper than what they want here.
La Settimana Enigmistica has to be the world's best puzzle magazine. When I lived in Rome, I bought it every week at the local kiosk. It is full not only of crosswords, but also of intricate puzzles, such as anagrams, monoverbs, changes of vowels or consonants, cryptograms, and other brain teasers--all in Italian. It also has cartoons. The puzzles begin easy, and become harder later in the book.
My favorites are the rebuses, fascinating picture puzzles that depict one thing and, when solved, state something completely different. For instance, a dog barking (latra), the letters GI, two beavers (castori), the letters ADA, and blackberries on a bush (more) translate to "La Tragica Storia d'Amore"--or The Tragic Story of Love. The editors give you ... Read More:

The American Prospect was founded by Robert Kuttner Obama's Challenge: America's Economic Crisis and the Power of a Transformative Presidency and Robert Reich Reason: Why Liberals Will Win the Battle for America, both important thinkers in their own right. While it isn't as radical as I think our analysis needs to be in this time of ecological and economic meltdown, The American Prospect is consistently thoughtful and provides a very helpful response to the endless barrage of right-wing PR in the service of corporatism and militarism The Corporation.
The current issue features a cover story on a constructive development in cable news, that is the rise of Rachel Maddow on MSNBC. Openly gay, and politically astute, Maddow is a breath of fresh-air on the ... Read More:
This is my favorite magazine right now. This is the magazine that I always get excited about when it comes in the mail. Decibel is obviously written by people who are big music fans in general, but love extreme metal music. These are the people who can see a lot of music journalists for the wankers they are and that bands like Slayer, Carcass, Jesu, and Converge deserve as much, if not more respect than popular bands like Talking Heads, Nirvana, and Radiohead.
One of the best things about this magazine is how it covers all genres and eras. They'll do a profile of some obscure grindcore or doom metal band or a band that is just doing something entirely new. And they do cover stories on popular older bands like Iron Maiden, but then they'll do a cover ... Read More:
I have been collecting books off and on for over 20 years. Before I started reading Fine Books & Collections in 2004, however; I was quite ignorant to book collecting outside my specific area of interest. Over the years I have become much more sophisticated and knowledgeable about collecting thanks to FB&C.
Each issue covers a broad spectrum of subjects ranging from the basics of collecting to explanations of particular areas of specialty. They have regular columns on collector and dealer profiles, maps, fine press, auction reports, and so on. It is the only magazine that I read cover to cover and enjoy every minute of it. Even the advertisements are interesting because it helps me to find additional resources and connections. I also like that ... Read More:
I agree, SCRIPT is the better buy. Creative Screenwriting (CS) paints every review/interview with the same glowing brush (no matter how bad the film is) whereas SCRIPT really does offer an insider view into the process. Script also offers Television section in each of its issues where CS only provides the occasional sub-feature. And as a CS subscriber I can tell you that the magazine always arrives late to my door - sometimes up to two weeks after it can be found on the shelves.
I get this every year for my mother, and she really enjoys reading it. It's a good way to get updates if you miss some shows, and the who's coming and going is always interesting and fun to know.
