I've been getting Entertainment Weekly for about 10 years, and I've pretty much liked it the entire time. For a while, they had a problem with spoiling plots, but that seems to have been addressed. This magazine keeps me informed about the pop culture that I don't have enough time to experience first hand.

Harper's is a terrific magazine. Do NOT however, DO NOT, buy this magazine from Amazon!!! Here is why: the WAIT. Normally, when a person buys a magazine subscription, they get the first magazine the following month. AMAZON TAKES 4-5 MONTHS!!! I bought this subscription for my father whose birthday was in August. He called me in October to sheepishly ask where the magazine was. After complaining, Amazon said they would get it there by November. HUH???!!! Now, I just got an email saying they made an error and it would now ship SOMETIME IN JANUARY!!! Oh, but they were nice enough to make it up to me by offering me a free subscription to Inc. magazine!!! WTF???!!! What does Inc. have even remotely in common with Harpers?! Not only was the price the cheapest I was able find anywhere, the first copy of the magazine, which was supposed to start in six to eight weeks, came only four weeks from my order date. What a deal!

I ordered this through Amazon because ordering it through the National Wildlife Federation website was not successful--and I tried twice. The magazine has not yet arrived so I cannot review it. I can review the NWF's website as difficult to negotiate. If it never arrives I'll have an opinion about that too.

The magazine was ... good/ok. After the third issue, I started to regret subscribing to it. Too thin, not enough juicy content that made it useful. Why would I want to check out their web site on how to do some stuff when I subscribed to the magazine? After seeing the pictures of what I wanted to build, the bottom verbage was "Check out our web site on how to do this..." Junk. Sorry...

I started reading this magazine in the early 90's, when I was a kid. My dad had a few from the 60's and 70's, and I have expanded my collection since then to include a good amount from the 80's. That stuff was brilliant.

Artists die, we know that. New artists and writers can be good, but the MAD magazine of the 2000's isn't worth buying. Why did MAD start putting in ads? Wasn't it making enough money by itself? I loved MAD for the fact that it was ad-free, and the brilliant writing and artwork, laced with biting satire. Now, the humor in there is more of the "potty humor" level, and is the kind of thing juveniles laugh over.

Now it's not worth the paper it's printed on, and CRACKED magazine has gone the same way. Why must good, beautiful ... Read More:

The Nation

The Nation is a great publication that has featured the works of scholarly writers such as Eric Alterman, Barbara Ehrenreich, Noam Chomsky and Norman Mailer. Though the issues addressed and the opinions expressed are often labeled as leftist, this magazine nonetheless contains some very thought-provoking nuances and propositions for a better America that sound intelligent.

Though many are outraged about some of the stances that the editors and contributors of The Nation have taken, their retorts often fall short of being strong, tangible, clearly expressed responses. Just look at the cover...is this magazine targeted at the single male or what?....but GQ isn't glib...it has great articles,great photography,it's quality!
If you enjoy this magazine you will almost certianly enjoy the new dvd "Single a documentary film"..it features a cast of entertaing and thought provoking experts,comics,Singer/songwriters and "real life" people sharing their insights and observations about the complexities of relationships in todays crazy world"

Sports Illustrated Kids (1-year),National Geographic Kids, Highlights For Children

These are great for Birthdays and Christmas for children. They are a gift that keeps coming throughout the year and they don't take up a lot of space. This is especially true when you have to ship gifts to loved ones far away.

I wanted to give this magazine subscription as a gift but was unable to order it with a gift card or gift notice. I had to call the recipient to tell him to be on the lookout for the magazine to start in 4 to 6 weeks. It would be nice if you offered a gift option with your magazine subscriptions.
