yeh, i've been watching y+r for probably 30 years and have to know what's going on so i like the digest, it is pretty informative and glad i got it! i like to be a step ahead i guess, good price and i just have to go to my mailbox to get it!

Asimovs Science Fiction

I like Asimov better than ANALOG, but that's kind of like saying that I like strawberry better than chocolate or vanilla. It's a matter of personel tastes. I especially like the new book section. I've ordered one book from it already.

There are some big problems with Stereophile that make it worse than useless unless you already know a lot about audio (so that you can separate the useful parts from the stuff they make up):

- There's a lot of misinformation, bias, opinion and pure fantasy mixed in to the articles. Unless you already know quite a bit about audio, it may be hard to separate the useful information from the rubbish.

The writers and the editors are simply not interested in really getting the facts right and testing what they know against reality - that's hard work and it's inconvenient, after all. And facing reality would get in the way of the real reason this magazine is published, which is ....

Disney & Me

Disney and Me is a fun magazine for toddlers and up, but the magazine features Disney characters, and not just Winnie the Pooh. In one issue for example, characters from Cars, Meet the Robinsons, Finding Nemo, Handy Manny & Winnie the Pooh were featured, and the number of pages devoted to the characters also vary.

I would recommend this magazine only if your child was really into the Disney characters [my daughter loves Finding Nemo]...the activities are fun enough but there are other magazines out there like Highlights, Baby Bug, Ladybug & Cricket magazine that are more substantial in terms of educational content. This magazine rates better in terms of entertainment & fun.

Stay away from this if you like rock music. This just shows a bunch of pop stars and rappers and gives bad reveiws for all rock music.

This magazine is terrific if you are or know a poker player. It has a lot of information on tournaments, especially Texas Holdem. It has a good listing of the regular tournaments that happen in Las Vegas every day, although all the hotels are not in there. If you want to find out for sure if a specific hotel has a tournament you are best off to call that hotel to find out. Overall, though, this is a terrific magazine. It is a magazine that you find in Las Vegas by some of the poker rooms. If you order this magazine, though, be sure you follow the order process closely. New York Herald Tribune Crossword Puzzles

I love doing crosswords and picked up one of these books while on vacation awhile back. I was immediately hooked and I am now a subscriber. All of the crosswords, even the smaller daily ones, are challenging, which I appreciate. I do have to cheat and look at the answers now and then, just to keep going, because these puzzles are not easy. But they are great fun for the crossword puzzle fan. The books are a nice size, easily carried in my purse. Highly recommended for crossword addicts. Nice gift idea, too.

I have subscribed to a few magazines like Creative Screenwriting and Writers Digest. I think this is one of the best magazines because it really looks at the writer and what writers go through in regards to writing a script. It's focus is not just on major movies like Creative Screenwriting. I think the big difference between the two is that Script has a variety of films/television it reviews and critiques. Also, it adds a writers view more than an editorial on a mega blockbuster film. Yes, you need to understand a review of a high concept film, but wouldn't you rather have a magazine like Script that provides information on what is a high concept first?
