My wife bought me this magazine for xmas last year since I am a current men's health subscriber. I had high hopes for the item, but it just was out of my generation. I am 26th, and nearly everything in this magazine appeals to a much older individual. Stick to men's health if you are under 30.

Psychology Today is a great magazine. Even my sister, a clinical psychologist, agrees - a woman who isn't too interested in spirituality but quite enjoys provocative views and sharp comments.

Fake airbushed pictures, ie Andy Roddick. That guys arms turned out bigger than his waist. This magazine used to be okay. I think they spend more time with tanning, lights, make-up and Photoshop that they do with real athletes. If they cut out the "4-page advertisements" every 6 pages along with all the adds at back of the magazine it would consist of the cover and a 1/2 page article. They should pay people to accept it in the mail, hard to charge for a brochure. I just wish it was more "real" and less about selling us on smelling like roses and wearing $350 desinger shoes, cater to the average Joe who just wants to get good info and work-out ideas. Unlike many magazines that claim to be healthy, this one really is. I always find recipes that are simple enough not to overwhelm me and tasty to boot!

I bought the subscription for my husband because he wanted it. I thought it would a less sleazy version of Maxium, not to trash Maxium, but come on. Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised because not only did my husband love the magazine, I also ended up reading it and getting health and diet tips. We now have a magazine we can actually have a conversation about.

Running Times

I subscribe to both Running Times & Runner's World. Although they are a bit different format, they are both just as good. Running Times is a bit thinner but is packed with alot of running stats and race information & dates. It offers alot of high school & college athletes, which is great if you're buying for a younger runner. It also has less ads than RW does. It's a great magazine with alot of running tips.
