I liked this magazine well enough. Packed with tons of decorating tips, antiques, craft type articles...BUT like most magazines seem to do, it is loaded with advertisement. What there is of the true mag however is worth it.
Forbes has some problems:
1. each issue features yet more conservative opinions promoting trickle down theory. If you want to read articles written by Steve Forbes complaining about having to pay taxes, this is for you!
2. after the Steve Forbes commentary, you find yet another billionaire or celebrity salary ranking. If you like to brown nose rich people, this is for you!
There is very little investment or actual business advice. Don't even waste your time or money on this magazine, it serves no practical purpose.
The magazine comes very late every month. For example you can see the August issue on sale everywhere in mid-July. But the August issue comes late August to subscribers. I wonder whether that's the deal of subscription. Very disappointed.
The Nation is a great publication that has featured the works of scholarly writers such as Eric Alterman, Barbara Ehrenreich, Noam Chomsky and Norman Mailer. Though the issues addressed and the opinions expressed are often labeled as leftist, this magazine nonetheless contains some very thought-provoking nuances and propositions for a better America that sound intelligent.
Though many are outraged about some of the stances that the editors and contributors of The Nation have taken, their retorts often fall short of being strong, tangible, clearly expressed responses. I have been a subscriber to Texas Monthly for close to 20 years. With that longevity, one might think this would be a 5-star review; however, that is not the case. As a person who loves Texas, I subscribe to virtually all magazines with the word "Texas" in their name. As a result of its extremely liberal, left-wing bias and trash-talking about Texas, I have many times been very close to cancelling my Texas Monthly subscription even before the renewal date. At the last minute, however, they seem to include a great article on interesting Texas travel destinations, top Texas steak houses, etc. and I'm hooked (tricked?) into sending in another renewal. It's hard to understand how a liberal blue-state publication survives in one of the reddest states ... Read More:

I'm sure this magazine is a hit with many but it's just not my favorite. I wanted to try it out though and see. I'm more of a southern, country type magazine gal who likes lots of recipes. This isn't a bad magazine just not my style personally. I've only receive one issue so far so maybe it will grow on me more after I get another issue or two.
