I was given HEALTH magazine as a gift, and have enjoyed six months worth at the present time. I'm a 40 something, formerly fit mother who still believes in herself enough to know that someday...I can be 'fit' again. This magazine seems right up my alley. It addresses common health issues with clear, short articles and yet isn't packed with ads so that the articles get lost. Some recipes, some exercises, some discussions, while remaining entertaining too.
You would be wasting your money if you are already fitness oriented and off to the gym to meet your trainer, but if you are in need of an encouraging, helpful, entertaining read that will inspire versus guilt you into getting healthier, this magazine is for you.
I was thinking about purchasing a subscription to Penthouse magazine because my fiance didn't object to the idea. Penthouse was the first "dirty" magazine I purchased when I turned 18 back in 2002. I was very pleased with the content, mostly pictorially, when compared to the much tamer fair of the Playboys I had hidden in a box in my room.
By the time I entered college, I had six issues of Penthouse. I had also discovered that 90% of the internet (which I hadn't had access to until I went to college) was comprised of pornographic websites, and that you could get a lot of the content for free (especially just women showing their private parts). I gave three of the issues to a friend (who's girlfriend blocked porn on his computer) and ... Read More:

My choice was to subscribe to this magazine, or let my frequent flier miles expire. The practical penny pincher won out, so here I am, with my final issue, and grateful for the end. The end of searching fruitlessly for articles featured on the cover, but nowhere to be found amidst the overwhelming sea of advertisements inside (although the ads may be the best part of the magazine). The end of flipping pages furiously, but never quite fast enough, through endless stark and impractical designs. The end of lugging around this glossy and hefty mass of empty calories, never finding any substantial nourishment for my home decorating needs.
Had I known then what I know now, I would have saved some trees and abandoned my miles.

Photo Techniques Magazine can help serious photgraphers hone their craft, with extensive tutorials on shooting, printing, Photoshop, scanning, and other topics. It's invaluable for both film and digital photographers.
Film photographers will treasure this publication because it's one of the few that still provides tips on traditional film photography and darkroom work, even with medium format and large format cameras. Where else will you find artciles about toning?
This publication deserves your support. Once it's gone, it's unlikely we'll see anything like it again.
My MIL got a subscription to this for my son and it is just adorable. As others have said, the content is great but it's very short. I am glad he gets it but I don't know If I would dish out $25 a year for it, but as long as she wants to get it for him, that's fine by me. :D
Actually, my son (age 4.5) uses it as a bathroom book. It's hilarious to see him sitting on the potty in deep thought while reading these. So for short sessions like that, they're great but don't expect them to entertain your child for any amount of time. It's also handy to keep 2 or 3 in the car (they're fairly sturdy) to look at in restaurants or dr. offices etc.
So, all in all cute but not completely worth the money IMO.
I'm a big fashion magazine fan - having subscribed to magazines like InStyle, Lucky, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Elle in the past several years.
People Stylewatch - in addition to Instyle - is one of my favorites. It's a rather thin magazine, but what you get is lots of good, useful content that is similar to InStyle (minus the gobs of advertisements). Stylewatch appeals to the readers of People magazine (which, I admit, I do not read) and fashionistas who enjoy reading up on fashion, trends and celebrities. What I like about Stylewatch is that it doesn't waste your time with pages of ads, editorials or articles. It gives you pictures, pictures, and more pictures as well as a good look at current and upcoming trends and some great comparison shopping/tips ... Read More:
I've been reading Electronic Gaming Monthly for several years, and it is truly one of the best gaming mags out there. The writing is phenomenal; the writer's manage to put humor and detailed information into their articles.
Many other magazines have sold out in recent years, giving better reviews to game's whose publishers pay more for advertising and such, but not EGM.
If you want a high quality magazine about video gaming and all of its attachments, buy this one.

My dad is a big history buff and I bought him this magazine as a gift last year and he loved it and decided to renew it for him this year.
Brio magazine is a christian girl's magazine for about 13-16 year olds, although it could be for as young as 8 or 9. Brio and Beyond is just the 'graduated' version, for 16-22 year olds. Being in the "brio" age group, I would highly reccomend Brio. It's the only magazine I am subscribed too, and I read it front to back the day it arrives in the mail. I really couldn't see a magazine more suitable for teen girls. It is perfect, and has a lot of fun suggestions to do with friends and siblings or yourself. one of my favorites was when they gave gace masks recipes, another one was Chai tea recipes. And that's just an example. They have short fiction stories, an 'ask susie' column, daily devotional, fashion, beauty, entertainment, and so much more! this would be perfect for a girl's christmas ... Read More:
