I've subscribed to ESPN and The Sporting News for a couple years now. When my subscriptions end, I won't be renewing ESPN.
I want detailed sports information, in-depth stories and the kind of details I can't find in my morning copy of USA Today. Instead, ESPN delivers a Maxim-esque version of sports with lots of popular culture reference and clip art. And plenty of ads for gold jewelry, cell phones and men's body spray.
I used to complain more but I've come to realize the magazine is a reflection of SportsCenter -- a show that has devolved into a series of annoying euphemisms for home runs, slam dunks and touchdowns.
Bottom line: If you love SportsCenter, you'll love ESPN magazine. If not, look at the newly ... Read More:

I bought this magazine for my hiking husband. He had the dream to hike most of the Appalchian Trail before age 70. This magazine went to work in his brief case, and was quickly missed when our daughter picked it up to read in her room. He had an interest in most of the articles. It was well worth the purchase price.
Conde Nast Traveler is undoubtedly the best travel magazine out there. They may aim a big high as far as budgets for travel go, but at the absolute least they provide the best kind of inspiration.

I was so excited to order what I thought would be an educational and fun magazine for my son's first magazine subscription. What a waste of money! This is mainly advertising for movies, tv shows, candy, and video games. On top of that it's laid out in a difficult to read format. My son said some of the pages gave him a headache to look at them. I know it did me! After 3 issues I cancelled our subscription.
This is pretty good magazine and for the price of a $8 it is a steal. I give the magazine itself 3.5 stars and the price with it 4 stars. There are many good ideas in this magazine and one of the only magazines besides my favorite (All You) that offers normal clothes and normal stores. The past months articles on saving money were well thought out and were easy things to try. The idea of putting a filled bottle water in the back of your toilet to decrease how much water needed per flush was a great idea! The one reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the constant need to have celebrities on the front cover while the articles about them aren't direct interviews - just some statements made to other people here and there. Seems lame. Otherwise this is ... Read More:

Excellent magazine. I've had a subscription for a couple of years now. Great how to articles, reviews, and the latest mac news. The macworld website is also a great resource.
Amazon offered a far better price for a 1 year subscription than the price of renewing through macworld.

I began subscribing to the Atlantic around the time of start of the war in Afghanistan, and was an ardent fan. I loved the reporting by James Fallows and Mark Bowden, Mark Steyn's obits, and Christopher Hitchens' erratic but occasionally terrific stuff. It was literary, combative, intelligent, centrist but never doctrinaire. But after a few years I noticed a worrying development. Stories kept cropping up that I suppose were meant to attract a young female readership. They were about boring subjects like healthcare and organic food. There was an editorial slant that was indistinguishable from the NYT or Slate. They ran a cover story about the shortage of good nannies and later an adulatory profile of Barack Obama. Steyn disappeared. The month I cancelled my subscription, ... Read More:
