I've been getting Entertainment Weekly for about 10 years, and I've pretty much liked it the entire time. For a while, they had a problem with spoiling plots, but that seems to have been addressed. This magazine keeps me informed about the pop culture that I don't have enough time to experience first hand.

For a publication that's always pointing out scams, their subscription fliers seem like a scam. It's 2008 and due to their devious Subscription Renewals I'm subscribed until 2010. Let me explain how this happened, so that you can be ready for it. This also happens with their Consumer Reports on Health.

If you decide to subscribe, note that they will send you a renewal notice at least in Sept, Oct, and Nov regardless if you have renewed already. So that, if you use the renewal notice in Sept and select "bill me in Jan", in Oct they will send you another renewal notice. By the time Nov comes and you get yet another renewal notice, you'll be wondering if they didn't get the renewal notice you sent them in Sept (you won't see a cleared check ... Read More:

Bicycling has portrayed itself as is the "world's leading cycling magazine," and this may be true, but the quality of this publication has been slowly declining over the years. My personal interests in cycling are more directed at mountain and trail cycling, but this magazine, in publication since the '60s, was always a welcome source of information about non-motorized two-wheeled sports.

I started subscribing to this periodical years ago. It's articles and reviews used to have substance, and each issue was worth exploring from cover to cover. The magazine's coverage of Lance Armstrong and his multiple championships was exceptional. Harper's is a terrific magazine. Do NOT however, DO NOT, buy this magazine from Amazon!!! Here is why: the WAIT. Normally, when a person buys a magazine subscription, they get the first magazine the following month. AMAZON TAKES 4-5 MONTHS!!! I bought this subscription for my father whose birthday was in August. He called me in October to sheepishly ask where the magazine was. After complaining, Amazon said they would get it there by November. HUH???!!! Now, I just got an email saying they made an error and it would now ship SOMETIME IN JANUARY!!! Oh, but they were nice enough to make it up to me by offering me a free subscription to Inc. magazine!!! WTF???!!! What does Inc. have even remotely in common with Harpers?! I am a fan of the magazine and think it's one of the best news/current affairs publications out there.

However...

my wife and I received a subscription as a wedding gift. It took a more than 4 months to finally get activated. In that time, no one at the economist would help me ('talk to Amazon'), and no one at Amazon would help me - first, I had to get the friend who bought it for us to talk to them, which was a hassle. Second, they told him that everything was fine and that (guess what?) he'd have to chase it up with the economist.

Great magazine for teens! It's got a lot of good advise on what make-up to buy. Also, it has great healthy recipes, easy for teens to make. My daughter made a great veggie wrap. It was delicious.

Cook's Illustrated

I ordered a couple of magazines as gifts through Amazon, including Cook's Illustrated. A few months later, I started getting other magazines sent to me at my home address that I did not order. Then, charges for these magazines appeared on my credit card. I am still dealing with these mysterious charges on my credit card. Do not order magazines through Amazon - your credit card number will be up for grabs and you'll getting magazines you did not order.

I started receiving this over the summer and my daughter loves it. When she started pre-k this was reccomended by her teacher. It made me feel good to know that even professionals agree that this magazine is a wise choice for young readers or pre-readers.
