I ordered this magazine on July 31, 2007. Today is December 14th and I haven't seen it yet. I'm sure it will probably be a good magazine if I ever get it!
I am a new teacher, and this magazine has all kinds of fun craft projects and ideas to use in your classroom, as well as up to date articles about what is going on in education right now. I woulld definitely recommend this magazine to anyone not only who is a teacher, but who has children. Most of the crafts and articles pertain to families as well as teachers.
I ordered the item exactly a month ago. Amazon has always had a great product assortment, great prices and even better value. As a merchandise distributor, however, many things seem out of your hands. You ask me to review a product which first of all, is a gift, secondly, the intended recipient has not received. You do not allow me to proceed without reviewing so that the review will be incorrect. I knew that it would take from 4 to 6 weeks to deliver the product. What is unacceptable is that in the 4 weeks since I ordered the intended recipient has not received any notification that this gift is arriving. This was meant as a Christmas gift. So, the child--7 years old--is not even anxious or with the expectation of getting a wonderful magazine. ... Read More:
Dig takes a subject that could be dull and transforms it into something fun, exciting, and easy to relate to. Well-researched and -written articles by people who are actually *doing* archeology expose kids to fascinating subjects month after month. Activities, photos, and maps keep each issue visually interesting. Megaliths, Bog People, and Disasters are just a few of the themes Dig explores. This is a great magazine for curious, bright, and clever kids who want to know more about Dig-ging stuff up!

My family has been getting this magazine ever since I can remember, and I liked it. But it started to change over the years, and I think the biggest change was the comics. It used to be Noah Vale, which was funny, but it had to stop when the 'bad' kid got saved, so they switched to Johnny Bravo, a si fi. Then that ended because the evil guy got defeated, so now it is some rat. The jokes are corny, and the games are weak, but I think this magazine would be excelant for 8-10 year olds. But if you're more interested in the older stuff, get the other ones.
As an elementary art teacher, this is a great resource! Not only are there many, many ideas for all age groups (many are very adaptable with a little creativity) it is a great source for new products. The clip cards are wonderful and I especially love the new Famous Artist cards - giving a short bio of each artist in a card format. I keep all my clip cards organized in a file box and it has grown to be a fantastic place to look for new ideas no matter what grade I am teaching this week. I look forward to every issue. This magazine is a great inspirational tool!
This is a wonderful magazine for children, filled with puzzles, quizzes, great illustrations, and articles aimed at 9 - 13 year olds, plus science that's fun to learn. It's been around for over 30 years, so you know that means it truly is exceptional in the publishing world. The other reviewer shouldn't fault the magazine and not update the "review" based on delivery problems, since her complaint came only 6 weeks after the order. It clearly states above that delivery might take 6-10 weeks, and I've learned to be very patient with subscriptions ordered through Amazon. (But they always showed up!) So don't blame the publisher -- it's still a terrific magazine!
