Vivaldi: The Four Seasons - Janine Jansen

Startling, exciting, and quite original, are the very words to describe Janine Jansen's unique, quite insightful, interpretation of Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons". While there are many fine recordings of this work, with the best of the relatively recent crop include Mutter's and Chang's, Jansen's recording deserves ample praise simply for its bold, daring performance of Vivaldi's concerti cycle. Why? Hers is quite literally a stripped-down interpretation, consisting of herself, five other strings (two violins, viola, cello and double bass), theorbo and box organ/harpsichord. Ok people. I ordered this from Oct. 13 and NOw it's Nov. 3. I still didnt' get it. They told me it's gonna be delayed until the 14... I'm rating this only a one star not because SIR James Galway isn't a great flutist, but it's Amazon's crappy service and lack of interest.

Most Frightening Music in the Universe

This is an awesome collection of unsettling melodies from the masters, not just some horror movie themes (though it does have some Psyco). You will end up playing a round of "Where have I heard that score before?" because these melodies are very iconic.
The only complaint is that the track listing is somewhat occult. One has to use amazon.com's track listings and fill in the numbers.
Still, this is a great buy!!

I brought this to my little granddaughter for her FIRST Birthday. I was babysitting her for 8 days during my visit, and we listened to it together everyday. We both loved it. I played it every morning and afternoon when she got fussy and tired. It worked wonderfully to soothe her to sleep,and it made our cuddletime even better because the music is very pretty and is played on real instruments. My daughter continues to play it, and she says it makes our little girl smile. I hope she's thinking about Gramma when she hears it.

When i bought this CD i paid more attention to the number and type of tracks, and didn't realised that 99 tracks in just one CD could only be possible if... each track had a mere 30 or 45 seconds. My mistake, so i was disappointed with the result, and because someone could be lead to think that this CD has 99 complete tracks, make no mistake: its a compilation of brief samples.
