Gamma Ray is a song that I haven't been able to get out of my head. Yep, another Beck earworm. Anyway, this is a another solid Beck album. That means you have some of the best song hooks possible, a bunch of different musical influences, some songs which are great radio fodder, and some that are seemingly pointless. Beck, to me, hits about the same on each album. 1/3 great songs, 1/3 perfectly fine songs, 1/3 less brilliant songs. But he does that album after album, without fail. And even the least useful of the songs are novel and interesting at least once. He's a bleedin' genius.

I agree with most of the reviews - the London staging is the very best of the English language versions of 'Les Miserables'. Forget the New York (Broadway) production, much too polished (sanitized ?). It pales in comparison. The American version benefits from greater sophistication but at the cost of the original book.
HOWEVER, for the first production of this musical, go to the recording on the 'Anthology' (French) label, issued by FGL Productions (the complete 1980 version). It has the cast of the premier, with 'guest appearances' by some big names in yesterday's French popular music, Michel Sardou, Salvatore Adamo, and Michel Delpech. And a list of superb actor-sings, like Maurice Barrier (Valjean), Rose Laurens (Fantine), ... Read More:

If you enjoyed Buffy the experience was probably hightened by the amazingly beautiful under score that accompanied it. This CD is full of wonderful music from fun and upbeat to sad and scary. From the score of Buffy sending Angel to Hell, or the Gentlemen in Hush and the beautifully topped off with the score from The Gift when Buffy sacrifices herself. If this doesn't stir emothins within you nothing will.

I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The kids and I would watch these epsodia just to dance around to the music. So, when I found out it was on cd I had to buy it.

After years of absorbing classical and jazz, I have recently begun to gain an education in other styles of music. I had not heard of Beck prior to having it recommended to me. I am so glad I picked up this album! The sounds, the revolutionary ideas, the crazy songwriting... all come together to make this an amazing album.
I am not an expert in this music, so I will leave the detailed, long-winded reviews to those that know what they are talking about. I like it!

I was not a huge fan of Midnight Vultures -- I don't seem to ever feel like playing it -- but almost everything else Beck has done has been genius, and this overlooked album is no exception. It amazes me how something this original and this good didn't get more attention. When I first got it I played it all the time, then I put it away for a few weeks and then had to start playing it all the time again. As the months/years go by, it's earning a place among the albums that will never grow old for me -- Abbey Road, SuperUnknown, Exile on Main Street, The Bends. Classics of all kinds...like Guero.

Buried in most of Beck's music is actual ability to write songs and melody, once you strip away all those loops and trickery, songs are buried under there. Sea Change brings all this to the front with perhaps one of the best breakup albums ever written, and I say this owning albums going back 40 years and over 8,000 songs in my iTunes library. Sea Change never feels old, never feels dated, and is a brilliant late night album to put on and just ponder. I'd give it six stars if I could, it's that good.

Jeff Beck's Truth (1968) is a critically acclaimed and influential piece of work that features some great performances and historically rocks the blues. There are some great moments on this album, that's for sure.
It also frustratingly lacks direction and purpose as a whole album. Truth is all over the place and there's not a lot of cohesiveness, and no concept. At times, it seems like it's a well organized all-star jam session that doesn't have any mission at all, other than to highlight the great performances.
Jeff Beck had already made a name for himself as a guitar hero while working as a session player and as a member of The Yardbirds when he replaced Eric Clapton in the group. After leaving The Yardbirds, he formed The Jeff Beck Group featuring ... Read More:

Beck is one of the most unusual musicians to come from the '90s, his monotone deadpan rapping being too soft for hip hop, his production style too slick for lo-fi, his style too quirky for a singer/songwriter. He was an alternative child, indeed, representing a snapshot of a different time when teenagers were conscientious, smart, effective and had a good taste. Beck was directly tied to Generation X by the spectators and critics, but those ties soon got unlaced with his subsequent records. Much of the album's fame falls down to the widespread acclaim that the song "Loser" received. It's no wonder--the song truly is Beck's masterpiece. In terms of instrumentation and lyrics, "Loser" is pure innovation. Beck's eccentricity is at its most compelling, catching your attention for those four ... Read More:
