This album is just a repackaged version of his Duffy album which did come out eary 1990's and IS britpop at its best. Don't get me wrong, a fantastic album - perhaps his best - but it's from the 90's not 2005/2006!

This is a killer big band session by arguably the swingiest drummer in the business--who has a tighter hi-hat or locks more securely into the groove? It might have been called "Song for My Father," since Duffy's famous "jazz dad," Chubby Jackson, is featured prominently on a couple of the tunes and in the liner notes. The album came out on the cusp of the "neo-swing" fad in pop music, so it's a shame the record didn't pick up more business from young people thirsting for the real thing after getting their fill of the Squirrel Nut Zippers or Big Bad Voodoo Daddies.
Some advice to Duffy: limit the scat singing to a single track (everybody does it); don't get carried away with the vocals (many drummers and instrumentalists have tried ... Read More:

Wow, five star reviews all around for this disc. I have to join the club.
This time around Duffy's joined by Aimee Mann and Andy Partridge on several songs. There's a great mix here of dark self-observation (usually by Duffy, his six string, and little, if any, accompaniment) and buoyant pop. "What If I Fell in Love with You?" is a standout track that fades out in a smoky haze of guitar effects and hippychick vocals. (Get out the lava lamp!) Then the disc segues into "Something Good," a jaunty, Beatles (It's Getting Better), Small Faces, Blur (circa 1996) number with a brief a capella ending.
It's not all Sugar High, though - "The Postcard" and "Autopsy" ground the album in dark moodiness.

For Duffy Power, these recordings are probably a sore spot. He was lured into a studio to lay down a collection of his latest pennings ostensibly as demos with the promise of a proper studio album with full arrangements. Instead, the record label popped out the demos and reneged on the proper album.
What this means is that most of the tunes feature Duffy accompanying himself on guitar and harmonica, with occasional piano assistance. It's very stark material. However, Duffy Power's fine voice smokes as memorably as ever and the material includes a great new original "Lily" as well as reprises of numbers which had hardly been issued anyway, such as "Mary Open the Door" and "Little Boy Blue." His cover of "Little Man, You've Had a Busy ... Read More:
