. Back to the Boneby: The Duffy Bishop Band July 16, 1996 I have 4 discs by Duffy and treasure them all. Such power! Such feeling! Such vocal ability! She makes you want to bop till you drop in one song and then hits the depths of your soul in another. For the life of me I can't fanthom why she is not a household name! Convince Me is one of my favorite songs from any disc, any performer. |

This man has created and continues to create some of the finest, most intelligent and tasteful pop music ever heard. Fans of XTC/Andy Partridge, Matthew Sweet, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, Aimee Mann, Michael Penn, etc..............you must get the work of Stephen Duffy into your daily musical diet. With all that's happening around us these days, a thing of beauty from such a creative, gifted artist is most welcome indeed. |

This album and the one previous (The Ups and Downs) are an 80's staple that even rank high among todays standards. In good fashion, Duffy's songwriting on this release combines poetry, catchy dance beats and melodic sentiment that makes "Because We Love You" a timeless beauty! My only gripe would be the outrageous price tag! - but still worth the investment! |
