Long Road Out of Eden

You can't go back in time. People and music change and you can't listen to an all new 2 CD set by one of the greatest bands ever and expect it to be Hotel California. It's just not gonna happen. All the members of the Eagles went their seperate ways for years and pursued solo projects to varying degrees of succes(most notably Henley) and then reunited for Hell Freezes Over and had recorded a small amount of new material between that and this album. Many of the songs on these 2 cds sound like they could have been recorded in the Eagles heyday while others sound distinctly like the members solo works from years past. This is not a bad thing in my opinion.

Heart On

'Heart On" is my personnal favirote CD by Queens of the Stone Age. Of course, it's not by QOTSA, it's the Eagles of Death Metal. For the uninitiated, Eagles of Death Metal are comprised of Josh Homme and Jesse Hughes of Queens of the Stone Age along with various guests.

Josh Homme moves behind the kit and Jesse Hughes takes over lead guitar and vocals. Obviously there are similarities in the sound of the two bands, but "Heart On" succeeds in offering more radio friendly hooks...if your local radio station was DJ'd live from a strip club. The music definately feels like QOTSA with a healthy dose of the Rolling Stones circa 1981 while they were in their honkey tonk phase.

i purchased this cd as opposed to "their greatest hits" cd's 1 and 2 because it has more songs and pretty much all the greatest hits. make the comparison and you will be very happy with this cd. every song is fabulous.

Hell Freezes Over

This CD has a lot of their classics in a live version. It's very good including Take It Easy and Desperado, which I particularly liked live. I wish there were more DTS audio discs out there.

This album is simply one of the 5 best albums of the year. Imagine Wilco fronted by Sgt Pepper's-era Lennon with a healthy dash of Radiohead. Just get it already.

I Am Mainly Writing a review on this not just because of the fact that this album in any format has the best sound quality , performance , production and writing of any album in the analog era! . but it sets the standard of other recordings of all time .
I cant believe anyone would say that this is a waste of time to listen to this album .
Also the use of surround sound is also fantastic here .
Henley's drums are Back Beat to the true dynamics of what cd's and other high resolution formats should sound like .

The Eagles of Death Metal are a mixture of AWESOME "rockers" that were already out there and they got together and blowen m mid since! Some of the members of the band were already in some of my favorite bands, I didn't even know it until I was like "that sounds really familiar."
