"Day After Tomorrow" is an excellent Baez disc IMHO! Her song selections continue to be powerful. Her voice, while weathered, remains expressive and powerful. Patty Griffin's "Mary" has a lovely melody that Baez embodies completely as she finds inspiration from the example of the mother of Jesus, "Every time the snow drifts, every time the sand shifts, even when the night lifts, she's always there." Eliza Gilkyson wrote two tracks that Baez recorded. "Rose of Sharon" was originally on Eliza's CD Redemption Road. Steve Earle's acoustic guitar compliments Baez's voice that brims with emotion, "Rise up my love & come away, the rain is over & gone, you are the fruit of my darkest day." "Requiem" from Gilkyson's Paradise Hotel is masterfully ... Read More:

I have the Diamonds & Rust record album I purchased when it was first released. Not being able to play the record in my car it was worth it to buy the CD as well. My favorite album...some really moving songs.

I had a copy of this when I was a young man back in the '60s.It was on vinyl of course and didn't survive the many playings I gave it. I believe it was done in a very unpretentious way highlighting an extremely talented young folk singer. She of course went on to become a singing superstar but this is the definitive Joan Baez for me.

This is not an album to enjoy only during the holiday season. It is an album to enjoy anytime you want to hear the exceptional voice of Joan Baez. Although "Very Early Joan" is my favorite, I find myself selecting this album just to hear Joan's pitch-perfect voice.

This Cd is very good, I recommend it to anyone who likes to hear the beautiful voice of Joan Baez. I studied German in college, so it was fun to hear "Sagt mir wo die Blumen Sind" (Where Have all the Flowers Gone?). I am fond of folk music and enjoy hearing songs sung in languages other than English.

I have been a Joan Baez fan since I was a child. Her early works are especially appealing because her young voice was so perfectly sweet, high and clear.
HOWEVER, that said, this is not a great recording. The cuts are pretty much unedited. There is a lot of ambient noise, and maybe some people feel that adds a cool ambiance, but for me it is really distracting and annoying. A live performance doesn't have to sound bad. Also, there is no equalizing going on - sometimes the guitar playing just sounds like loud, hard, repetitive (and boring) strumming.
Anyway, it brought back a lot of good memories and made me appreciate the advances in recording technology that have come along since the 60s.
