What a rare treat to hear such a wonderful voice! The music transcends the various languages( Latin, Italian, French, Spanish and almost no English) and communicates directly, beyond intellect, deeper to sooth the soul. This we expect from Opera and Religious selections such as Pucinni's "Nessun Dorma" and Lloyd Webber's "Piu Jesu". A favorite is the solo rendition of "Time To Say Good-bye". Orchestrations are as light and lyric as the voice. Some tracks are found on other CD's and the enclosed photos are a bit risque, but again, the music reaches a much higher plane than most. You won't be disappointed.

I'm actually relieved that "how do i make you" was left off this album. that was a song that i always fast forwarded through...probably the worst song she ever recorded. (simply obnoxious to my ears and a waste of her voice).
i had this album many years, and listen to it every once in a while...i just came here to get a replacement because mine got scratched.
i always wondered why she recorded it...recently i read an interview with linda and she said she never really felt comfortable in the rock genre, and loves exploring other styles.

I was very proud to have worked on all three("What's New","Lush Life",and"For Sentimental Reason's"with my late father. The last album"For Sentimental Reasons"wasn't released until the year following his death(1986).My Father and Linda were very fond of each other. My father would say that she(Linda)has a wonderful instrument. He helped her to get the most out of her"Wonderful Instrument"!C.R.Riddle

Some people are complaining about the duplication of songs on this cd and Linda Ronstadt's Feels Like Home cd. When these tracks were recorded, there were conflicts with schedules and an argument took place between Ms. Parton and Ms. Ronstadt (I remember reading an article that Dolly told the details). After the feud, the recordings were shelved and it looked very grim that this cd would ever be released. Ms. Ronstadt's company was pushing for a cd to release and since there didn't seem to be any hope of another Trio recording, she used the tracks of her and Ms. Harris (and in her linear notes on her cd, she thanks Ms. Harris for her loyalty because of the feud between her and Dolly.) They decided to record other singers for the 'Trio' affect, they ... Read More:

Rarely does a pop singer get afforded the opportunity to realize their potential, for the record, the way Linda Rondstadt does in her collaborations with Nelson Riddle. Smooth, haunting and thoroughly memorable are vocals in this Linda Rondstadt collection. There is no reason to try to choose a favorite from this collection of timeless standards, just let this flood of nostalgia loose and listen as waves of wonderful music wash over you.

Her voice was at its ultimate perfection by this album. Transition was sort of the name of the game though. What was Linda to do? Country, Rock and roll or serenade us with love ballads. We didn't care did we..? She hit it on all cylinders. This was Linda's "Abbey Road" album. It all came together on this one release. She had later albums that slammed it home but Heart Like A Wheel was the perfect storm of Linda's music. Not to mention that Lindas album covers, including this one, were dripping full of sensuality and sexiness that kept us young boys glued to our speakers and the album covers..

Who could guess that a greatest hits album as good as this one would be way, way to early in a career. This great album was one I had in 1976 on vinyl, and along with most teen-age boys of the time I had a major crush on the lovely Linda. Recently, I saw it on CD and snatched it up.
In any case, this is a great collection of Ms. Ronstadt's Country and Country-Rock era; the cover of "Silver Threads" is probably my all time favorite country song, and "Love has no pride" is one of the most heart wrenching ballads ever recorded. Amazingly, even though these remain some of my all time favorites, Ronstadt just got better and better as a vocalist for three more decades.
So here's the deal, this is a best of the early career of one of the finest female vocalist ... Read More:
